Established in 1856, the Old Ebbitt Grill was a favorite of Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding, and Theodore Roosevelt. The restaurant's decor is comprised of a Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths, and bars set in marble, brass, and beveled glass. Old Ebbitt serves a diverse selection of food including steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and also features an Oyster Bar with oysters form both coasts. Open early for breakfast and weekend brunch, and serving lunch, dinner and a late-night menu. Private and semi-private dining rooms including a rooftop overlooking the monuments and The White House.

This is the oldest restaurant in the District of Columbia. The rich history and tradition is complemented by the tremendous service and outstanding food. We were a party of four and everyone got something different. Mine was the sriracha chicken rice bowl. It was full...of chicken and fresh veggies. Seasoned and cooked just right. The sriracha was not too hot but added a nice touch. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and said how good everything was.More

First thing I need to say is that it was great! I am just apologizing for being so late in writing this review and Thankful that Samuel G. Was a honest human being!! We were having a late lunch. We were seated in the bar...area, it is such an old, beautiful building!! Our beverages were good! Our food delicious and our service exceptional!! We 4 ladies were in a rush to get to our reservation at the Holocaust museum. When I wrote my total on my credit card receipt I put the COMPLETE total in the tip line!! Ugh!! But Samuel G. Asked the gentleman that was with us but stayed to have dessert, came to him and asked about the $$ tip/ total?? I was a server for 35 years, I know what it is like to be stiffed! Or both receipts taken and no tip! Or people not being able to add correctly and leaving a minimal gratuity!! Samuel G. Was being an upstanding honest person and didn’t take advantage of the wrong written $$ amount in the wrong spot!! Thanks! KKLMore

Been here a couple time, never disappoints. Service was attentive. Caviar and champagne for lunch , a great way to start a quick, romantic anniversary get away. Nice vibe. To the server who was able to carry 5-6 plates on his arm, you are my...hero! Thank you all. We’ll be back !More

I was in town with my partner and decided to order there and take it back to our hotel, and what a mistake. The order took much longer than expected because of the lack of to go containers. One of our orders was the charred...octopus and clam chowder soup. The soup was great, however, the octopus came in a can. It was not cooked at all. Furthermore, there was no plate of cutlery for the dish. It was just octopus in a peel back can with some ramekins of three small items to include with w/ the dish. I was very disappointed with the dish that came in a can and was not cooked. Dine In only.More

What a classic this place is. I love the feel, the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The service is top notch. We didn’t get a reservation, so we sat at the bar which was full service. Had the steak frites tonight and it was...nearly perfect. Not the best steak I have ever had, but a lot of times the smaller strip steaks get overdone. Not this one. Perfectly cooked, and the fries were just right addition. I can’t wait to return. Last time we had oysters and they were top notch.More

Best meal in DC! Crab cakes are a must. The staff recommended the meatloaf, and I always take local advice. It was fantastic. Ended with key lime pie, since we can’t get “real” key lime pie in Maine. It was a taste explosion. I’d fly...down just for dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill!More

Excellent dining experience! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was excellent starting with the hummus appetizer, crab cakes were excellent and bread pudding for dessert.

I tried to post the website but it won’t let me do html in the question area. There is a menu button and when you click on it the drop down list has a wine selection with prices.

I found the lighting to be great. Definitely not bright. Yes, there was valet parking and jeans were acceptable. We were there early evening on a Saturday.
