Service was poor for the quality we were told about. Change over of staff which detracted from the service. The menu was not vast but good selection. Food was good and plentiful. Would probably not go back didn't leave a good enough lasting impression.

Very long wait, with no bread offered so we finally had to ask for it, then fried seafood from an unimaginative menu, which was of the quality of a decent diner. For a pretty high price.

Went in for lunch, mid-week around 11:15. Intimidated by the upper class setting, we settled in. Wait staff was quick to explain specials, stood off an appropriate amount of time before raking order. Food was VERY good. Average price for a sandwich is $15. But,...More

We ate here late evening but were very pleasantly surprised to see plenty of other diners still eating. The atmosphere was great; I think there was a party going on at another table, which was quite noisy, but it wasn’t intrusive and didn’t lessen our...More

I am sorry for the delay. The lighting is very subdued. There were no flashing lights and the bar area is dim. The dining area is well lit but not "bright white".

Established in 1856, the Old Ebbitt Grill was a favorite of Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding, and Theodore Roosevelt. The restaurant's decor is comprised of a Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths, and bars set in marble, brass, and beveled glass. Old Ebbitt serves a diverse selection of food including steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and also features an Oyster Bar with oysters form both coasts. Open early for breakfast and weekend brunch, and serving lunch, dinner and a late-night menu. Private and semi-private dining rooms including a rooftop overlooking the monuments and The White House.
