Legal entices with the lure of fresh seafood. Unfortunately the execution is not very inspired. The crab cakes were excellent - not overly breaded or distracted by over spicing. The pricing I suppose is market based - that is high - but the menu features...More

Visited Legal Seafood in DC after my meetings ended. Decided to choose from the daily recommendation of Parmeson Mahi Mahi, roasted butternut squash/cranberries, and sauted fresh spinach. The meal was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, the squash was roasted to perfection and the added...More

Had a glass of wine, oysters and Sriracha Calamari during a quick stop during their happy hour period. It was all so delicious. Have eaten at this chain before and never disappointed. But the squid was something else. Came with blue cheese and celery and...More

We chose Legal Sea Foods for our final meal in Washington, DC and we were simply delighted! Our server, Success, was gracious, menu savvy and professional. We both enjoyed the Boston clam chowder, signature crab cakes and sweet potatoes. We will certainly be back!

This place was fairly easy to get to despite the construction in the area! We were lucky to get street parking directly in front of the restaurant. We started with appetizers: fried oysters and Bang Bang Cauliflower, which was banging good! Portions were plentiful and...More

It’s one of the best seafood places I’ve tried, and we travel a lot. Food is fresh, tasted delicious and it was served in a timely manner. We tried the calamari trio, fresh oysters, chef’s grill selection, New England chowder and everything was outstanding! We...More

The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)
