We visited on a busy Friday night but got a table quickly. The homemade pastas we tried, bologese and a pesto rigatoni, were yummy. They also have a very good wine list. Service was attentive and not rushed.

Lavagna's pastas are divine! The homemade pasta is incredible. The flavors are so authentic and incredibly complex. On top of the amazing food, the atmosphere is intimate and friendly.

Had a nice brunch here with my mom and boyfriend. My egg dish was just ok, but they both got pasta and I was jealous because it was GREAT. I'm going to go back for dinner asap. Everything they have is house made and fresh.

Fresh, farm to table, homemade pasta, good service, pleasant ambiance, excellent barramundi entree and very good lamb ragu with pappardelle. Enjoyed our dinner in this surprising unassuming casual find. Very good.

Margo was a terrific waitress and patiently let us taste three wines till we settled in on our choice. The atmosphere was warm and cozy as was the food. Walking distance from our hotel through a trendy neighborhood. Would highly recommend it

Everything was just amazing. 10/10 some of the best food I've ever had. There was a decent wine selection that really just help reinforce how great it was.

We loved our dinners. I had the ravioli with runny egg which was fantastic. My daughter had gluten free pasta and they let her switch out the mussels and get chicken in that entree. Very accommodating and friendly. Great wine. We are leftovers for lunch the next day.

While visting DC we found this fun street with lots of restaurants. We decided on this one and we're very pleased. I started out with the pumpkin and apple soup which I enjoyed. Then I had the spaghetti and my husband had another pasta dish. He had a bite of mine and agreed it was the BEST!

Lavagna opened with a concept to keep food simple, fresh, and Italian, and now one of DC’s exciting new culinary talents has taken over the burners at Lavagna. Executive Chef Alex Ripley was lured to DC by the booming culinary region where his passion for this industry and for food could easily be recognized. Lavagnas’ team is excited to progress with its newest addition. ‘Farm to table’ is an essential drive of this Virginia born chef. A good portion of his life was spent growing up in the Northern Neck of Virginia; which has instilled a lifelong passion for fresh and locally sourced cuisine. Chef Ripley went on to study the culinary arts at Johnston and Wales, where he learned to develop his own unique style and flair. He continued with his career at many restaurants along the East Coast; Morgan Creek Grill on the Isle of Palms in Charleston, SC, Solas in Raleigh, NC and The Founders Inn Hampton Roads, VA, but began his career as Executive Chef at The Mooring in Kinsale, VA.“The complexity of food begins here in the kitchen,” says the Chef, with an idea, and blossoms into something beautiful with only a few movements of a knife, the stir of a spoon, the sizzle of olive oil, and the commitment to provide delicious culinary treats seasoned with passion and the love of food.
