Upon arrival, the hosts are professional, but not very warm. The room is rather cold. It could certainly benifit from some artwork, some white tablecloths, some nice music, some lower lights, and some nice aromas. It was not crowded on a Tuesday at 7:30, when every other resturant I looked at seemed filled. It was not overly noisy, which I... More

A wise choice for our family Easter brunch again this year, RIS is a standout among restaurants in Washington. The 2-course brunch menu was terrific with a number of appetizers that set the stage for a host of traditional and creative entrees. We chose a strawberry salad and a bowl of carrot soup to start the meal followed by two... More

Not quite French haute cuisine, not quite French country, with a little Mediterranean note. Thoughtful menu, with some lovely, different choices, something to appeal to anyone. Thoroughly enjoyed everything we had.

RIS is elegant without being stuffy. The food is excellent American/ bistro style food. This was my second time visiting RIS while i am in town on business. They did not disappoint. Last night we had the meat and potatoes chef's choice. It may have been one of the best cooked beef tenderloins ever. I also recommend the Thai fried... More

Lamb chop was the best we have ever had. And for dessert, the butterscotch pudding is absolutely amazing. A must have.

The food was good, the service was very good. The place was big, but only had one other customer when I arrived. However the Hostess asked if we had reservations, LOL! I looked around and said no, but I assumed she could find a seat for us:)

We ate here for a family birthday celebration. The food was amazing and beautifully prepared. The service was attentive but not intrusive and we never felt rushed. It was a bit on the higher priced side, but everything we tasted was delicious. The salads had some of the freshest ingredients for a salad that I've ever had, the lamb was... More

This is a neighborhood restaurant for me when I can't get in to or don't feel like Rasika West End, Blue Duck Tavern and Cafe Deluxe. Ris is easy. The food is varied and very good. It's the same food at the bar and it's a friendly nice bar. There are also tables in the bar area. You see people... More

RIS is a farm-to-table type of restaurant, with "cut of the day" and similar features for its various meat and fish dishes. The setting, though, is more fine dining than weathered wood tables that seem more typical for farm-to-table fare. There's not a large menu here, but there's a lot of variety, with lots of daily specials and fish, chicken,... More

We used to like Sat/Sun brunches at RIS. We noticed the dining hall was dated and in need of renovation, but service was usually good and so was the food. We didn't visit for a while and just went back a couple of weekends ago. What a disappointment. The room is still in desperate need of renovation but in addition... More
