I have enjoyed lunch at FF pretty much since it opened its doors. I love the attention to locally-grown ingredients and the creativity of its menu. I have never been disappointed by the food or service or drinks or atmosphere! But a couple small points that caused me to knock off a star: --I loathe the policy of waiting until... More

This NW location of this hugely popular DC chain of five restaurants is good in every aspect. Although around for nearly ten years, this was my first experience. From the name you know it is a "farm to table" restaurant, but most don't know it is actually owned by over 50,000 farmers through the North Dakota Farmers Union with several... More

While the food is really great, I'm marking it down for the experience. Some folks love a loud, crowded restaurant, but I am not one of them. I'm glad for them that it is so popular, but it made for a not enjoyable experience. Our group of 8 came on a Thursday night. The entire waiting are and all around... More

We visited on the basis of a review of must visit restaurants in DC and we were no disappointed. Really liked the concept of the farmers setting these up and it being local food. Busy but efficient. Book ahead!

This restaurant is amazing. We are there twice during our 3 night stay. The place is a must try but be ware they are on a very long wait. I would make reservations at least 2 weeks in advance. The wings are unbelievable along with the corn bread! Everything on the menu looked great. I got the chicken and waffles.... More

Often times, restaurants don't live up to their hype. However, this was not the case with Founding Farmers. Every part of my dining experience was wonderful! First, I would recommend making a reservation if dining on a weekend (or any other time, just to be on the safe side). It was a Saturday night, I was dining solo, and I... More

Chicken and Waffles..... The End. But seriously...This place is awesome. Chicken and waffles are amazing, comes with Mac and cheese, and a size, I recommend the scotch carrots and onions. If you've got a big appetite, get the Farmhouse Platter. Also try the Rizi drinks (sour sodas). Definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand, but they definitely will accommodate walk-ins, it'll... More

We have had 5 star meals in the past at founding farmers and were fairly disappointed with this visit. The restaurant was very busy as usual with a lot of people waiting. We were seated close to on time but no one from the restaurant spoke to us for over 5 minutes. The entire meal was very slow and with... More

This is our first visit for Brunch and FF does a great job! Make sure you get a reservation or you will be waiting (we overheard the desk staff report an almost 2 hour wait at 11am). The restaurant is so crowded, but once you are seated, there is plenty of space and "calm." The chicken and waffles are great... More

My wife and I have been to founding farmers many times for lunch and dinner and always loved it. We decided to go for breakfast on this trip. First and foremost be sure to have a reservation! The meal was no better than the average hotel included breakfast My wife had the French toast and I had the waffles. Both... More

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
