Came across this Irish bar on my first visit to the city. Service was quite good and staff very friendly. Not a wide range of beers but adequate. The Irish breakfast certainly did the trick for four hungry rugby fans.

Sat down tonight, a Saturday, at 10:30 on the patio, as I've done many times, friend and I wait for over 10 minutes for a server (our mistake). Server comes over and tells us we can get our drinks inside, but we're "welcome " to...More

Hoban’s fit the bill to a tee. Lunch was inexpensive but great. Try the potato leek soup! The selection of whiskies and beers satisfies a variety of tastes. Servers attend to your meds without hovering. It’s a quiet and calm atmosphere... of course, there was...More

We went twice with friends to have some Irish beers. The fries and onion rings, as the flatbreads, were delicious. The environment was noisy enough, but you can talk without shouting. I recommend this place if you are in Dupont area.

Description
James Hoban's proudly offers guests a modern day taste of Ireland. We have endeavored to bring to Washington a flavor of today's Ireland, with a look that presents our most cherished traditional aspects yet also displays modern Ireland's strong European culinary influences. But while Great Irish cuisine comes naturally at James Hoban's, a very memorable dining experience is about more than the food. It's when the warm host, witty bartender, and savvy waiter treat you like family. It's the live music, the strong drinks, and the great company, all in our nation's capital. Stop by for a pint or a plate and experience what has been called a "neighborhood gem" and "warmth in the heart of Dupont."
