Ate here on Saturday night, between us we had the lamb rack, venison, chocolate fondant and some of the local pinot noir. The lamb was fantastic, the venison came as some pieces of steak and some belly, the steak was fantastic, the belly was tough and fatty and in-edible. The chocolate fondant was advertised as having salted caramel sauce and... More

Our most expensive meal in Akaroa, and I saw no indication of a credit card surcharge until I came to pay. The serving staff were outstanding, it was a shame about the food. Maybe Chef has been following Heston Blumenthal with his adventurous food pairings, but the only thing that worked for us was the chocolate fondant. Very disappointing. The... More

The staff are friendly and fast, but the food is not special. We had mussel, seafood soup, and spaghetti.....we are satisfied with large portions, but they all mediocre. Would go there again for drinks and ambience, but not for lunch.

My wife and I ate lunch here after a long morning of walking in the surrounding area. The restaurant is airy and spacious, with a wide ranging menu and good service. The soup of the day (tomato) was particularly warming, even if a little spicy. Steak frites cooked to near perfection as you would expect in a settlement such as... More

Visited off the ship firstly, and then again on a road trip. Both times we had the best fish and chip dinner, the building is full of character and directly across the road from the water! Great place for a good meal.

Ok meal except for the beef fillet which was under cooked, tough and tasteless. The others at our table had salmon and said it was average at best. Didn't bother with dessert after the disappointing mains. Also dismayed by an extremely loud party of 4 who eventually became quieter, wish the staff had asked them to be quiet from the... More

We visited in November, when the restaurant was not crowded. It is a big space, and only half full, which resulted in it feeling rather large and echoey, and just slightly gloomy. I can readily imagine that when the place is packed out, which I understand it is at the new year, the atmosphere might be much more lively. Our... More

Great atmosphere but could have been warmer. Another table asked for a heater. Seafood chowder was excellent. The mains were good but expected more for the price, $29. The staff were quick to check how food was and attentive.

We chose to have my 50th birthday party at the restaurant as we have eaten here many times and have never had a bad experience. Food was amazing, staff amazing and how can you go past a setting like this on an amazing day, we got the lot. Thanks so so much.
