Great views and friendly staff - nice pub feeling, just a little bit scared after being charged $11 for a pint of local beer.

Nice place to stop for lunch. Good food and very friendly. We really enjoyed the view. This is an old establishment with an older environment. If you enjoy a historical stop, this is a good one.

We were staying in Little River and as the Hilltop Tavern was only a short drive away, we decided to book a table for Saturday night. We both fancied pizza so we ordered a Kaituna and Motukarara, and a bowl of chips. The pizzas arrived in good time but we were slightly disappointed. For $26 and $25 respectively there wasn't... I admit I've stopped for photos numerous times and this is the first time I've gone in for coffee. Excellent service and coffee. Clean restrooms. I will return someday for a meal.

We passed this place on our drive into Akaroa. Stopped on the way out for some breakfast. It's an old building with some of its history in pictures on display. The interior is funky with lots of retro furnishings. The food was terrific, especially the salmon, and coffee really hit the spot. We sat inside but didn' t miss any... More

Recommended to go here by our B&B hosts. It was half price pizza day so we shared a half and half for entree then shared a main, then couldn't resist sharing a banana chocolate dessert as we watching the storm roll across the hills. Food was great. Plenty of parking. If the weather is nice there are loads of outdoor... More

The Hilltop is perched on the pass overlooking the beautiful Akaroa Harbour. Its a classic 1930s pub building with a nice front lawn to enjoy the view. We serve freshly caught fish, wood-fired pizza, steaks, slow-cooked meats, soup and a range of tapas. We also have homemade pies, sweets & pastries for those looking for a quick bite. Great fair-trade coffee & loose leaf tea. Craft beer and local, sustainable wines. Check out our websites for upcoming live music. (Open later than 9.30-pm on gig nights and weekends, depending on busyness) Please note, the Hilltop has seasonal hours: 7 days 10-late: Christmas- Easter Thur- Sun 10-late: Easter to the end of July Closed for the month of August Wed-Sun 10-late Sept-Christmas
