We had passed this restaurant many times on previous visits to Tavira but never ventured in until this year. How foolish were we, the food is wonderful, the staff are very friendly and efficient. We had the prawns in garlic and butter and the freshness of the prawns ensured that they were succulent and delicious, but they didn't prepare us... More

After years of eating in Tavira, we just dropped in at our friends at Belhi. The only serious place in a street of "tourist traps". I appologise that it has been a long time since last, but what an honest place. Real food and great service. Family place with a genereous touch to everything. Lovely. Rice Tamborill made our day.

The restaurant locates in a quieter end of the main pedestrian area by the market, and serves amazing tender monkfish stew, and other Portuguese dishes. The place feels low-key but authentic and clean. Friendly staff made us feel welcome and provided attentive services throughout our meal.

We enjoyed a couple of meals at joao Belhi in 2013, and came back to the restaurant again a couple of times during our holiday last week. We were pleased to see that it hadn't changed at all! The menu was the same, as were the family who run it, and the quality of the food was just as good,... More

Bad and not fresh fish. I order cuttlefish but when they brought it to me it was uncleaned in all of its parts. all of the interior of... More

Small cozy restaurant with a nice Portuguese food. Went twice. Service was very friendly and warm, dishes simple but tasty.

We passed the big restaurants near the market and choose to eat here. And that was a good decision! We had the arroz de marisco and it was really good. It came still boiling on the table. It served me and our two children. Glad we had lunch here and did not choose the big restaurants along the market!

Every time we visit Tavira we always eat at this restaurant. The service, food and atmosphere are all brilliant. This time I had a grilled squid, and yes I got a whole squid, delicious. Deserts are home made, wow. Very reasonable prices and great value for money

Enjoyed two dinners here with lots of seafood. Excellent wine and good service rounded out an enjoyable experience. The Octopus stew was really good.
