We ate here for an evening meal and we had a lovely meal, apart from the soup which was too spicy and tasted rather like a famous brand of tomato soup! The trout was delicious as was the meat skewer. Our meal ended with beautiful desserts. The atmosphere was a little bland, the waitresses were very efficient.

Truly delicious food in lovely quiet restaurant in the Old Town. Waitress was intelligent and spoke good English. Thumbs up for tasty home cooked proper food.... as opposed to burgers and fries !

We stumbled on this restaurant for lunch on our first day - and liked it so much went back for an evening meal two days later. The staff were friendly and helpful, the menu varied and the prices reasonable for the old town. Once I had the tuna and once I had the seafood pasta and both were fab.

The food was very good, the waitresses were friendly and helpful, and great atmosphere with live piano music. The only thing that dropped the five star review was that it took the kitchen a lot of time to bring the food. Other than that, highly recommended

We first ate here about 15 years ago on our first trip to Rīga and have been back each time since. The food is of a very good standard, and caters to a wide range of European tastes. The beetroot carpaccio with goat's cheese was a treat as a starter, and we would certainly recommend this to any visitor to... More

A lovely looking restaurant which gave the impression of being fine dining but without the enormous price tag. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't cheap, but it wasn't extortionate. The food was beautifully presented and was like art work! The staff were very friendly and we would definitely return. My only gripe is that we were charged €6 for a... More

We had the Pasta with Octopus, Squid, Shrimp, Salmon and Hard Cheese and Assorted Meat Skewers with Grilled Vegetables. Both very happy with the food. Friendly service and nice location.

On the gastronomic map of Riga "Melnie Muki" (Black Monks) is one of the few restaurants, which continues functioning for many years offering classic and relaxing atmosphere an¬d perfect service to its customers. The name Black Monks was given to the restaurant thanks to the old monastery, whose rooms have been serving as a place for social life already for fifteen years. Even though the slightly renewed interior and new accents the main value - the ancient brick walls of Old Riga - remain unchanged. The restaurant is very much in step with the times and offers to the customers the best there is while preserving the image built over many years. The waiters of the restaurant take not long to wait for and offer the menu as soon as the customers have sit down at a table.
