Exclusive seafood. The Appetizer plate for two included different oysters and raw fish. The highlight for me was the Sea urchin, which is almost impossible to get these days. The bread baked on the premises served with truffle butter was great. And then cod with mashed potatoes and truffles! Die and go to heaven!

We had a very pleasant evening, where we enjoyed just the right dose of hospitality with most pleasant aftertaste. The food was excellent in the very best and true meaning of this word. I would highly recommend this experience to everybody, who likes to enjoy fine cuisine and sophisticated atmosphere.

The place is stunning, because the surrounding atmosphere makes it fantastic. The Lighting design of place is made for each table so good that You can't feel if there are sitting other strangers next to tables. It is possible to concentrate only to your friends, family or everyone who sits next to you. And food and wine is next level of attitude how to enjoy the feeling of each bite, it felt like each texture have made only for me to enjoy and to return

High quality ingredients, good atmosphere but the food just doesnt work together. I was served a great ribeye (one of the best I’ve had) with paprika butter sauce that was poured over the steak and ruined it. Dont get me wrong, the sauce was great if it was just a table spoon or placed aside, not poured in a high quantity over the steak. There was no way to escape from the fat as there was added fat to the side potatos. Dessert options are creative but can leave some wanting for a classic desert. I ordered gelato, and got something more like a sorbet. A good one, but not gelato. The serving staff was very nice & friendly, and had knowledge about the food they are serving.

Visited here with friends and booked the Chefs Table experience. The Head Chef was present for the entire 11 course meal (around 3 hours) and did not utter a single word to us to say hello, introduce himself, his team or the food. Very surprised by this and the lack of introduction. It came across as unprofessional. Instead, he stood and ticked off the table cover meal tickets the entire time, did not do any cooking. A couple of the Chefs did present some dishes to us but it would have made the experience better starting with the Head Chef. The food overall was disappointing - lack of flavour, not filling enough and using the word 'scaps' was not appreciated for such an expensive meal. Also too much use of foam. There were 2/3 courses we did enjoy although our friend had to completely reject a couple of courses. As a seafood based restaurant we were very surprised that no oyster was part of the menu considering we saw lots of plates of oysters going out all night. Champagne was lovely and the service by the waiting team was very good. However, when we wanted our bill we had to wait 45 minutes and my friend had to actually ask one of the Chefs to get someone to assist us. The menu was not presented at the start of the evening which is unusual and so we were given a signed copy of it at the end with the Head Chef's signature. Unfortunately we left feeling disappointed, that we spent a fortune, did not hear from the Head Chef and left feeling hungry. So we ended up going to Mcdonalds, not something we've ever done before and not something any of us imagined we would do or wanted to do after an 11-course tasting menu, spending over 500euros. The menu didn't flow, lacked innovation and the food was not filling enough. Head Chef definitely needs to be involved more when guests are spending so much money and it is expected. My friends and I have been fortunate to have eaten at quite a few tastings over the years but this one was not for us. Very sad to write this review but I have to be honest.

They sat me at the Chef’s table, so I had to have the Fall Tasting Menu, which blew my mind. 13 courses and they all built and went so well together. I had rare dishes they had flown in from around the world. Viesturs was amazing and so much fun as he ran a smooth kitchen inches away. I had a few extra courses after watching him perfectly prepare wagyu all evening. They specialize in sea food, but the wagyu is exceptional. Julia is a magical server and maybe the most knowledge of the food from anywhere I’ve eaten. Kaspers is a brilliant sommelier who will gracefully navigate your entire culinary experience. Barents exposes every one of your senses as you experience new aspects of food and eating you never knew existed. Eat here with an open mind and heart and you will always remember it. We had a great experience at Barents. We started with a small “gift” from the kitchen which was like a masterpiece of a miniature. Fois gras was very good and superbly offered with six accompanying flavors. We then had salmon with truffles: a great pleasure, best congrats to the chef. To me one star Michelin was a given with those two dishes alone. Maybe dessert offer was not so extensive and in fact we have been tempted by a small ice cream only: some additional dessert should be added. The personnel has been incredibly nice and kind, explaining all dishes and being very helpful in many other aspects. Thanks to them and to the chef and the people in the kitchen we had a very pleasant dinner.

It was a wonderful evening with my colleague and business partners. As far as partners were not locals the waiter explained each food in 3 languages. Service inconspicuous, explanations about the food were exciting and informative. The meal was a wonderful, tasty and new experience.

Elegant design, great choice of wines, champagne and also the novel amazing cocktails by the one of the world's best mixologist Juris Kenins - No 6 and No 2 were our favorites. The variety of oysters and seafood dishes made it really hard to chose and I ended up having several snacks and resulted in a great dinner in addition to the drinks and chats - my favorites: oysters, scallop ceviche and sashimi of the day. Fantastic experience for body and soul - I can just sit back and enjoy the treat!

Having come to enthusiastically attend the proposed New Year's Eve Menu on 31.12, we were both satisfied with the service and a little disappointed by the lack of boldness for the day, 31.12 and the location. First of all, the place, a large room at the head of a building on the ground floor, well chosen, leaving beautiful spaces between the tables perhaps, a little too much in fact. The proposal, a 6-course menu and appetizers. THE lovely surprise first of all, the fish, succulent, divinely presented and with an exquisite sauce despite the presence (confusing for a 31.12 Menu), of thin slices of cucumber. The meat and its wine sauce, perfectly cooked, quantity perhaps a little limited for the meat. In my opinion, there was a lack of "letting go", inventiveness, creativity and even clearly and precisely a few notes of color; the balance of the dishes in terms of visuals, for example, sometimes lacked a note of color to truly balance the dishes; a note of green for example, an aromatic herb/plant would have been welcome on several dishes but, I'll let you judge on the photos, with the necessary hindsight in terms, I insist, of visuals. The desire to do well, to excel, is there and we leave no room for chance in this “house”. Perhaps there are financial issues that escape me but precisely, even if it means wanting to capture a demanding clientele but also quick to let themselves be carried away, guided, carried, originality was, for me, lacking for this dinner. Thus, the price of 150 euros per guest could have finally been increased, perhaps leaving some greater financial margins, this was not a problem for us to a reasonable extent (at the same time, the restaurant of the Kempinski hotel offered after all, a fairly ordinary meal for 350 euros per person this same New Year's Eve on December 31...)... We thank the chef and his teams for this dinner of good content, we hope that these remarks which have no other purpose that "pulling upwards" the restaurant will not be seen negatively but on the contrary positively with the philosophy of taking note of it for the future without harsh judgment but rather a source of positive reflection on how to make things evolve sustainably in common sense. The general feeling, perhaps wrongly, is that the dishes were decided by the chef alone, without real consultation with his teams or, with submissive teams without any real possibility of expressing an opinion on a “proposal” which, at this level of requirement, can only be collective and not the fruit of a single person, of a single brain, even if well intentioned. This lovely restaurant in the heart of Riga's old town has the most amazing food and service I've ever experienced. From the initial review of the fresh food available to us to the absoltely incredible goats chees sorbet with wild straberries and tomatoes everythhing was perfect. My friend and I shared the seafood tastng plate and it was amazing; every piece was beatiful and perfectly prepared. The service was oustanding. It wasn't cheap but it was well worth the expense.

Had a really good evening, tried amazing foods. The crew was very knowledgeable, told us everything we needed to know about the foods we were about to try. Definitely recommend this place to everyone, be it a tourist or a local.

We came to experience a lovely evening with great food and wine. Instead we were blown away by the amazing creativity of the chefs, the flavor and concept idea of the tasting menu "95% caviar". The wine pairing was exceptional and long to be remembered. Even though the seating was not fully booked, the service was so on point that overall ambience scored 9 out of 10 us. It is an expensive treat, but well worth a visit at least once a year!

We had the opportunity to enjoy both tasting menus - “95% caviar” at the beginning of this year and also “95% seaweed” just last week. Once again we decided in favor of wine pairing. One of the best wines I have ever had, that is for sure! I was pleasantly surprised that for both of the tasting menus we had, both of the head chefs came to our table so we could have a little chat. For the “95% caviar” dessert I cannot hide that I had a little tear in my eyes. With wine together it was remarkable! All my love goes to the chefs! I feel like each subsequent tasting menu is more and more focused on the details. I don’t want to ruin it for you by telling details, so you will have to come yourself! 😊 Round of applause to both the kitchen and front house! I had never felt so welcomed and loved in a restaurant like it is in the Barents! Definitely one of my favourite places!

Great tasting menu with attendant wines showcasing Baltic flavours and ingredients. A long selection of small morsels tastefully presented and pleasing both visually and to the tastebuds as each little dish features a main ingredient and a supporting cast from the Baltics. Wine selection was great and complimented the meal with the use of both whites, port, vermouths and dessert wines. Service was on point and sitting at the counter overlooking the kitchen it was even better with some nice words with the Chef. They also offer a comprehensive menu (oysters were excellent) and an expansive wine list. Highly recommended.
