Seated promptly, all areas look equally nice and cozy. Nice table nibbles. Very prompt service and starters came out quickly. Second course arrived in good time and was equaly deliciouse. Apple Strudel is an absolute must. For desert A free e-card as a momento is a lovely touch. If in Riga again, would return here to eat for sure.

We just popped in for an Irish coffee and a beer, nice place but the played some jazz tracks that neither matched the old time interior or my taste in music 😉 Nice and warm ambiance to the place though 😀

We only discovered this restaurant on our last night in Riga, otherwise we would have come again. As soon as you come in the whole place looks cosy and inviting. All the staff were extremely helpful and the food was excellent and quite reasonably priced. Only a few metres from House of Blackheads Square.

Excellent blood sausage and barley. Mussels in broth--good, but broth could use a bit more spicing. Duck breast--a small portion, but excellent. Steak--a very thick cut, done as ordered. A good dark draft beer with sweet undertones. Kvass is a type of root beer that everyone should try at least once. And try the rhubarb muss for a truly Latvian... More

This is my second visit to Salve in the span of 3 days. I love how friendly the staff are and how cozy the restaurant feels. You also get a fine dining vibe for a great value! Last time I had the pork fillet for my main, but this time I ordered the salmon. Both were delicious! The creme brûlée... More

Was greeted with warm and friendly service, the restaurant was quiet so there wasn't much of an issue finding somewhere to sit. The menu has a good variety of traditional Latvian food and the drinks menu was pretty extensive too. I chose the tasting menu which included a shot of black balsam start and a coffee at the end which... More

Came to Riga for Christmas Market and a bit of traditional Latvia. Salve was just that! A very warm welcome in great surroundings (lovely booth for our party of 6 with old maps as seat covers) and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We'd been out in the cold all day so a hearty traditional meal was just what was needed and... More

Located directly at the Ratslaukums this restaurant has a nice beer garden with a view of city hall and heart food with good portions. I recommend the fish cakes.

"Salve" - a restaurant that represents Riga city cuisine
There's no better way to express the uniqueness of the people, its habits and tastes than through national cuisine. Restaurant Salve offers a taste of traditional Latvian cuisine in an elegant city manner. Restaurant Salve, which is located in the historic Blue Guard House which is part of the complex of the House of Blackheads on the Town Hall Square - the heart of Old Riga - is the right place to look for exquisite cuisine and enjoy the specialties of the capital.
We offer to appraise the elegant and at the same time cozy atmosphere of the restaurant with a fine Dutch style interior to all citizens of Riga and its guests. Internationally trained chefs and waiters guarantee exquisite food flavor and high service standards.
In Latin, "Salve" means - "Welcome!" Which excellently reflects the essence of the restaurant, as each guest is gladly welcome there.
