No card payment. You have to pay in advance, so the waiters probably get no tips. Also, good luck getting your money back, if you either wait too long or the food is bad. The barman was not nice to us. To be honest, he...was a real dick. Would not recommend. The food is okay I guessMore
Terrible, horrible food! Tasteless, no seasoning at all. Only pickled pickles vere OK. But a good beer! Also very friendly staff.
I would recommend it as a quite cheap place to eat in Jomas iela. We had pancakes with mushroom and it was delicious, but nothing special, which is ok. You have to order inside and waiters will bring you your food to the table. Waiters...are doing their best as there are usually quite a lot people waiting, but they are very nice and friendly too. I would recommend it for a quick, cheap bite if you don't have much time or don't look for fine fancy dinner or lunch :)More
You have to order by yourself on counter. Pay on advance. We had some starters which were the best part of our dinner. Smallest crabs ever seen. For mains we had some pork meet covered with something white and awful melted cheese. Other was lamb...pot. Hardly any lamb and those there were just tendons. Beer was local and drinkable. Terrace in nice by the walking street but, never again.More
Authentic Latvian pub good selection of local beers and reasonable pub food. Large outdoor terrace. They do not accept bank cards so have your cash with you )
Absolutely disgusting food and service. We waited over an hour microvawe shaslik. Wife ordered mushroom soup, it tasted funny and threw up in hotel later. It was gone bad. I suggest to take any other restaurant in jurmala, you wont be disaapointed.
Had a lunch there during the short visit to Jurmala. Pancakes with mushroom were really good. Grilled plaice and cheese shops were also tasty. I like its interior as well.
Very cosy wooden cafe/bar on Jomas Street. We had just come off the beach on a cold Feb day and the open fire and good food was very welcome. Nice food choice, we both had a traditional dish of peas and bacon. A nice experience.
Searching for a pub that sells Latvian beer revealed outlets for food that sold beer on a main street that has a surprising number of off-licenses. Obviously locals do not normally frequent bars. If your quest is for food there are several commendable restaurants who...also have beer taps but if you are looking for a bar/pub you will find just a few where the emphasis between food and drink is primarily towards drink and food. Alus Krodzins is located in the centre of Jomas street in a rather quaint old traditional building of which many are disappearing in this once charming wooden Main Street only to be replaced with ugly concrete boxes of concrete and glass with no tilt or token to the architecture style of timber houses that defined (Majiori) Jurmala. Entering from the street one can see the attraction of the barbeque area during the summer tourist season. This was our second visit since 2004 and we opted for winter show rather than sun. We got no snow this year. Neither did they last year and another previous year showing a clear indication of global warming. Back to the barbeque entrance from which you enter a rustic style bar with a log fire. It is comprised of two rooms with tables and chairs and a nice bar. More importantly they had ten beer taps, well actually six been taps, two black beers plus one cider and one pear cider. A half litre; almost a pint, will set you back about 2.60 euro. If you get a bit peckish there is a food me. The staff were attentive and conversational and spoke perfect english. Seemed to be only one person operating the kitchen which may be at the core of some delivery time issues that some complained about, For us it was a nice bar with food if you needed sustinance. I do not hesitate to recommend a visit.More
It looked pretty promising but turned out the other way round really quick. It started off with a mutli language menu (german, english, latvian, spanish, french and more). At first it seemed that the meals cost very little, but everything is billed. Since the meals...don't come with a side dish, you pay extra and since most if the dishes don't have any sauce with them, you pay extra for ketchup, mayo and so on. The size of the sodas is not given (coke is 0.25l, still water 0.33l). The toilets were very dirty, there was no toilet paper and the hand dryer was not working. Our meals were very disappointing as well. The greek salad had only few olives in it, but a hair! The mushroom soup seemed strange and had a FLY in it. The chips were not well fried and soaky and the chicken meat was very cheap and not tasty. And like I mentioned before it didn't have any sauce with it. I can't recommend this restaurant at all.More
Very small portions for the price you pay.:( The terrace is very nice, location right in the middle of the Jomas street the food oookey portions very small you get 4 peaces of shashlik for 5.60 € plus you have to order side because it only...comes with cabbage and onion:( Next time there will be no next time :(More
This is my first bad review here. I'll start with the fact that we had order food near the bar stove and pay cash in advance. My husband and I ordered some pork shashlik with rice and beer, oh, and a plate of fresh vegetables,...because, as they said, it is additional side. When we got our plates we saw mountains of almost cold rice with awful kari spices and small spit of pork meat and wow (!) with small portion of vegetables of very strange colour (obvious they were not fresh)... The latvian Tervete beer was ok as well as that plate of fresh vegetables that we ordered as different side dish. So, i recommend to avoid this place in Jurmala.More
Ordered the spicy potatoes, the cashier added 80 cents to the order for ketchup and mayonnaise that we did not order. Small things like this make you feel ripped off. Either include it in the item price or give the customer the choice, don't force...it on top of the order. The food was ok, not great not terrible. Beer was good but flat. Had to ask the waitress to clean our table before we sat down. Left the place still feeling hungry. Better go to the Lido just 100m down the road if you want a good inexpensive meal.More
Just stopped here for family lunch. The outside beer garden is delightful and like a picture postcard. There's a but....... Food took ages to arrive. Beer was cloudy and sour. Chips took 30 minutes to arrive and were soggy, cold and undercooked. Never had worse...chips in my life. Salads were passable but not to British tastes. Sorry but I would really urge people to avoid. P.s. toilets we filthy as well.More
