When you get recommendations from various sides to visit a place, your expectations are high and the disappointment is even bigger when they are not met. Coming for a famous sunset dinner, We got the worst table in the place, sitting „inland“, facing East, next...to the wall and next to the register where every minute waiters checked in their orders or looked for cutlery. I asked for a table closer to the seaside or at least in the middle of the room (one third of the tables were still empty) but got denied, because it was „all reserved“ which as the evening went by turned out to be wrong. And yes, we also had reservations. Service was slow, other tables got served, who came after us, we did not, my red wine had cork and residue, after I showed it to the waiter, he took it back, only to serve me minutes later what I assume must have been my original glass (because it was all wet from rinsing) with what I assume the filtered wine. Clearing the table was also an issue, when I received my mains, my starter plate was still in front of me, which I had to ask to be taken away (waiter just dropped my main’s plate and i had to call him back to remove my starter plate!), etc. etc. I could go on, When I finally asked for the check it looked like a relief for both of us, myself and the waiter, who did not say a word, or asked how we are doing or whether we liked it. After calling it early and skipped desert, we took a walk on the beach, and yes, it was a beautiful sunset, although I would have preferred looking at it from the terrace or at least the restaurant. Not sure what it was that evening, badly trained service personnel resulting in embarrassment on the many mistakes, some sort of racism, my wife is Asian and travelling through the Baltics we did encounter that a couple of times or pure arrogance on the restaurants side, regardless of, it did leave a sour taste on a nice day in Jurmala. And yes, at the end, the food, my lamb was good, although slightly overcooked and for my taste the wrong sides on the menu, at least for lamb, my son‘s duck was as well overcooked but tasty, my wife‘s Miso cod was a bit disappointing, quite buttery, veggies were ok, however. Highlight were the starters, they were actually yummy and yes, all portions really were big, you won‘t leave hungry. I guess with nice service and a table facing the beach I would have given a 4, Location is really superb and if around you should visit, the view is brilliant. However, Food on its own, considering what they aspire to be (upmarket) is more average, but also not too overpriced.More

The Chef Lauris always has been good cook & creative business man. The new location faces the sea, food is good, big portions & nicely presented. Now & then there is a touch of creativity. Costly. Service professional but somewhat snobbish.

Ordered grilled veggies and dorada with brown rice. In fact they served fish and veggies fried in lots of oil and mix of white/red rice. Waiter sweared the food prepared as declared in menu. Never will come here again :( rude lady at counter and...waiters were unfriendly:(More

As a frequent and satisfied client at old location , we tried the new venue by strolling with family along the beach . After climbing up the metal stairs , we overlooked the terrace with lots of free tables while a little overweight girl shouted...from her reception desk : reservation ? No , we replied , but may be we could shortly stay to say hello to the famous known owner while sipping a bottle of Moët . No fully booked — short answer ; so good bye , good luck and never again as long as this useless lady is in charge !More

stumbled in by myself at 4 pm, when there were enough empty tables on the terrace, and had peppermint tea made from fresh leaves and pelmeni with a mutton stuffing. Warming and filling and just right. Total damage 15 EUR, so quite reasonable, especially for...upmarket Jurmala- if you want it cheaper, go to Dukats down the road. Service could have been a tad friendlier, but was all right. Wish them much success in the new location.More

Amazing view, tasty food! The Ceasar salad was amazing! Good place for events, cellebrations or romantic evening with your husband/wife. Price range is more higher than average.

Although the restaurant has amazing view the service was really unfriendly. The lady who welcomed us was rude and when we arrived she had bad mood and although the waitress was friendly the food couldn't compensate the average food.

We had a wonderful dinner. Perfect sunset. They serve champagne by the glass. The baby squids were absolutely fantastic. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and the staff suprised us with limoncello with dessert. We walked on the beach back to the town center. What...a great evening.More
