We had so called "Nepalese" food but it was not Nepalese whatsoever. The sauce they used tasted like something you would buy from a store, and it tasted quite bad. Meat mostly consisted of cartilage, skin (chicken) and bones (lamb) and tasted bland. I think...they used same sauce for two completely different meals and added some chili and different meat. Overall, the food was amazing! I would recommend others going there and trying it out. The biggest problem was with the waitress.. She didn’t speak any English, whatsoever. She didn’t even try to acknowledge us. (I have nothing against people who can’t speak English, but...at least try to say “Hello” or when I’m ordering food, look into the menu and watch what I’m pointing towards..) Anyway, she ran away and called the chef, who was preparing other people’s food and made him talk to us, and take our order. He was really kind to do that. Congrats on him! Sorry, but the thing about the waitress wasn’t cool at all. The Manager/Owner should talk to their staff about this and at least make them learn basic conversations in English. (Because, for example, if I was allergic to something and the waitress would not understand me that could end up badly..)More
This looked like an interesting dinner choice. We called and asked about handicapped access. We were assured that it is, Even the bathrooms were supposed to be accessible. When we followed the directions to their address we quickly discovered "you can't get there from here"....Only stairs to get it! Clearly NOT wheelchair accessible! Terrible service. The menu does not correspond to reality. Some food is only done on some days. Waited for nothing. Just waste of time. Ruined the mood for the rest of the day.
Although not really an authentic Asian restaurant but rather a westernized mildly Asian-inspired fast food joint with very predictable menu - food is still good (for what you might expect from a place like this.) Would rate one of the best so-called Asian places of...Tartu. Atmosphere is quite cheap and tasteless (tries to give sort of Asian feel I guess), does not really make one want to stick around for more than a fast meal or just a drop by to pick up take-away. Plates and glasses are made of plastic and quite worn out. Fortunately they have a really nice terrace. Waitress was very modest and doubtful - probably not a good qualities for that particular job as the service has a great influence on overall experience. She did not smile or anything just wrote our order down and got out as quickly as possible. I did not mind that she did not pour us drinks (or as a matter of fact did not bother to open caps of our beverages) as it is obviously no place of fine dining but asking for a feedback and/or whether we needed something more (or at least sticking around so we could ask) would have been much appreciated. Paid the bill at the counter as the waitress did not care about whatsoever and did not even check on us after bringing the main course. All in all - would recommend as a fast food take-away.More

The waitress is annoyed, bad service this evening 14/06/2016 at 19:25 local time. It is not the first time that we meet this waitress, she have no desire to work........it is a pity...the food is very good but with this waitress it is not a...good service it seems to be her last day on earth..........change the waitress!!!More
This restaurant is situated in a beautiful location up hill near Tartu city center.The location itself is really unique along with Asian cuisine which I found to be delicious and finely spicy for European friends as well.I discovered it after a long time of its...opening however I regret why couldn't I visited couple of times before but now I do visit it often. So have a nice appetite. :)More
Very friendly staff and food is always coming directly from the oven/pot dislike to some other Asian restaurants in Tartu. Also, dishes have distinct taste (they are not using same sauce for different dishes as it seems to happen in some other places). Prices are...reasonable.More
The venue itself is nothing special but the food offers a good value if You are fan of quick Asian food fix.Taste's authentic enough and recommended as probably the best Asian food in Tartu. I like the fact that Nepalese owner of the place speaks...decent Estonian and always greets You in good manner. Let's hope the place stays that way!More
There are many restaurants in Tartu who serve similar food but vaga mama stand out for giving a reasonably cheaper and quality food. Probably, this is only place in Tartu, where one can find the testy Nepali cuisine. The staff and chef are very friendly,...location is also quite good and they have also take care of the children by making the play area for them. I rate this restaurant one of the best in city!More
Vaga Mama is a great place to eat. Service is excellent, chinese food is the best one in Tartu, prices are reasonable and portions are big.
I have eaten the Nepalese curries and some Indian style startes here twice and have enjoyed my meal both times. I haven't tried the Chinese and Thai dishes, so I can't comment on those. Service is attentive and the beer selection is good. Access to...the restaurant is not from street level, but via the car park and small wooded area behind (and up the hill) from the bank building. You might think the restaurant is closed until you are within 10 meters of it, but it's worth the trek.More
Despite being well-hidden in an unassuming bank building this restaurant is worth discovering. Although the decor still feels like a company canteen, the food is very much not of that ilk. This was a very pleasant discovery of Nepalese dishes, with the menu also with...a scattering of Thai and Chinese. Especially in Tartu, where not all regional restaurants/dishes have an authentic feel, Vaga Mama produces food with taste and texture. The restaurant is child-friendly, although only having two very similar kids meals, there is a play corner. Certainly worth checking out.More
