Good food and lots of it but you couldn't rely on the restaurant or bar being open. The terrace was a lovely place to eat your meals but that also wasn't open very often

I would recommend this restaurant only if you are staying in the hotel and after a long day you do not want to venture out again. The restaurant is perfectly fine but nothing memorable ..... Except for the huge starters. I had the warm salmon...salad and it should have been my dinner! Food was good, but nothing gourmet. Waitress seemed inexperienced but very friendly.More

This is much better than what you might expect from a small town's small hotel's restaurant. We had a three course meal on one night and just an appetizer and a dessert the other night. Everything is of high quality, well prepared, and presented with...care. It's very good value for money. I can recommend the mushroom quiche, the chicken pasta, and the house cake (apple pie with vanilla). The only issues were the dry chicken and the other day's service, which wasn't up to par - very slow and they just didn't seem to care. That was offset by the outstanding service we got the first night, though.More

Nice cafeteria and restaurant in an Art Noveau style house (also hotel), a walking distance away from the city center, in the beginning of pictoresque and historical Karlova area. Sometimes you could feel a little lonely there - not much visiters usually.

This place comes straight out of a fairytale. The ladies are lovely and helpfull, the room was big, clean and very nice decorated. The breakfast was a great start of the day. Added bonus is a private carpark at the back of theire beautifull wooden...building and the city is within ten miutes walk. Definitely a top choice!More

This could have been a more positive review but it's not. The food took a lot of time to arrive. When it finally did arrive then it tasted ok, not bad, but then we noticed somebody's hair inside the food. We pointed it out to...a waitress. She asked if this means we don't want to eat it. Indeed we confirmed that there is no desire to eat the food with hair and asked it to be taken back to the kitchen. We had no time anymore to wait for another plate and to be honest the fought of finding something else in the food seemed to bad to risk it again. We never received an apology from anybody. Nobody even offered to take the cost off from the bill. I think this behaviour speaks for itself.More

There are not so many places in Tartu where you can enjoy such pleasant atmosphere and good food. If you want something quiet, discrete and special, you have to go there. Good place to surprise someone.

The correct name of this restaurant is Villa Margaretha; our party of four ate here in late May - it was the best meal of our three day stay in Tartu; the food was well cooked and rather inexpensive - good value for money. Three...negatives; first - the wine list should have a sparkling wine in between the sweet/semi-sweet 10 euro varieties and 165 euro champagne. Second - if the restaurant has to play background music then something other than 80s euro-disco. Finally, it took a very long time (15 minutes) for our bill to arrive and even longer to get change. Considering that there was one other occupied table and two servers, this is not at all satisfactory. But the food (at least the fish dishes that we ate) was excellent. There is not a huge menu, but there is a good variety of things. The place is opened until 23.00. We spent some 10€/meal (2 people). There is a moderate vegetarian choice. Local beer available. I liked the salmon salad and the soups. The potatoes...and mushrooms where not really my favouriteMore

Already mentioned in my review of hotel. This is a refined spot well away from the crowds in the center of Tartu.
