A very nice cafe with outstanding cakes, coffee, and dessert. A quiet atmosphere, friendly staff and overall a very fine experience.

We ordered a lot: mushroom soup, duck confit, veal cheeks, ceasar salad, pankakes, Vana Tallin hot chocolate etc. Everything, absolutely everything was incredibly delicious. A bit inconsistent service quality, depends on person, we were lucky, nearby table not so much. We'll return for sure.
I have visited this place as someone who currently lives in Tartu. I went there over 5 or 6 times for either dinner, dessert, or just a refreshing drink during summer. I remain divided on the overall score I would like to give to this...restaurant. I can only make a bullet point list of positive and negative points because of the diverse reasons I visited this place. (+) the pancakes in the dessert list are really generous and delicious (and honestly, tastier than Crepp...), I really recommend the full set of jam/honey/chocolate one! (+) I have my favorite rhubarb lemonade here! (+) in the heart of Tartu and with some good vibes! (-) very inconsistent friendliness of the staff. Whereas some waiters/waitress are very friendly and charming, others are, to my surprise, difficult to deal with, which could be some hidden pressure from restaurant management. This reflects through the slow service and the "abandonment" of waiters/waitress which can be hard to get attention from. I mean, I loved dealing with a few waitresses using my Estonian knowledge, but other waiters/waitresses really seemed offended and annoyed by me speaking Estonian :-/ I remained nonplussed... As I am always afraid to complain. (-) on ordering ice creams, even if it can be hard to "redo aesthetically" what is shown on menus, there's a difference between seeing an ice cream ball on menu with nice decorations and getting molten ice cream :) adding to that random lack of elements shown from description on menu. Okay, maybe I asked "no chocolate ice-cream and a vanilla ice-cream instead", which can upset some restaurants, but still... mmmh :), I really felt like I was an annoyance... (-) some lack of spices on main courses (for example, the goat cheese salad) There's lot of negative points, but I know that there's potential, because I had really nice moments too :) Just sad it depends on who serves you, really... Hopefully it will gain some quality as it is very attractive place!More
I liked this place in the past. But today I have got terrible experience. Prices are very expansive and we expected high quality food and service. Place was half empty. We waited long time our drinks. Personnel was not able to understand or remember order...detail . We was very disappointed, as 2 of us get food and 3rd person have to wait. Part of food was too salty and not tasty at all! Not recommended!More
The food was delicious, we took oven-baked salmon, duck confiti and beef cheek, all of which were mouth-watering. For dessert, we took hot chocolate cheesecake with ice cream, raspberry cream cheesecake and warm curd-apple cake with ice cream and Calvados The service was caring and...attentive, our special greetings to our waitress Ireen!More
Nice lunch, the mushroom creamy soup was amazing, and the cooked pasta with vegetables a bit too fat. My vienna café was not good, which was quite surprising! (the latte was ok though) Bad point: it took us about 2h15 for a simple lunch because...of the lack of employees. The waitress was very nice but she seemed to be running all the time.More
We recently spent a nice evening at this restaurant. The location on the Town Hall Square is very nice. The quality of the food and the prices are totally reasonable, unlike other cities where dining at a central square mostly is a rip-off. We had...some starters and two main courses. Everything was tasty and well prepared. But a side salad and a confit that were supposed to accompany my wife’s meal were missing. So we asked the waitress (who we only saw after we finished the food). She admitted it was her mistake and asked if we wanted it at that time. No, thank you. We got the bill and no one ever talked about it again. So I told her it would have a been a nice gesture if for example one of the coffees would have been on the house. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t want anything for free. I want what is proposed on the menu just like the restaurant wants the entire amount of money. Mistakes can happen, but there is a better way of dealing with than at this restaurant.More
Our duck confits were delicious! Location is nice: here big part of the dinner is watching people walking around the Raekoja Plats. At 18hrs on Friday restaurant was pretty crowded. Despite the hurry our food and service were very good. Wine list could be with...a little more variety. Our choice was good, but there really was no other option and it was more expensive than any other wine on our Baltic tour.More
It is with great disappointment that me and my friends have to state that Pierre is no longer a lovely place to enjoy lunch at. This morning, while enjoying our morning beverages we were awfully humiliated by the staff. The waitress treated us in a...manner that we were not able to pay for the tab of our table. Granted, the waitress who served us seemed inexperienced, however, this is still not an excuse for her to treat us like that. While she in her mind figured that we can not pay for the bill, she immodestly started making a scene by dragging us into the restaurant “because we could not pay for the bill”. After this incident and a couple of more minutes we were able to find our debit card in the bag and respectfully pay for our bill. It was truly heartbreaking how we were treated with upmost disrespect by the young waitress. It is not in the intention of this letter to bring any trouble to the staff of the restaurant, as we understand that also the position they were in might have seemed conflicting. Albeit, we will not return this restaurant again. Wishing you all the best!More
We had dinner on the terrace, which is at Raekoja square. Therefore you are in the middle of all things happening there. :-) Interior of the restaurant is cosy and french, toilets are called "powder rooms". :-) Service was friendly and even though it took...a little bit time they did inform it in advance. So it was fine. Food was tasty.More
We visit every year in Tartu and usually visit Pierre too. Perfect location in Old Town's main square(Raekoja Plats) and really nice terrace, where you can watch all happenings around. Stylish interior and for that price, tasty food and great desserts. Usually these kind of...places are low on quality and high on prices, but not Pierre. We had a really friendly waiter, who made sure we got a great dinnerMore
Had a chorizo-pasta, very good with lot of flavour. Wife had chicken cesar, an average. All in all can recommend.
It seems that this restaurant distrusts foreigners or, more specifically French people. The waiter took our order and understood that we were not Estonians; he brought the bill along with our drinks and insisted on being paid immediately. I noticed that he didn't make this...request with the other customers... So rude!!! They pretend being a French restaurant...I don't think so: there are gross mistakes and mispelling in their texts written in French.More
Had a breakfast in Pierre (omlet), which was quite okey. But as for coffee - one of the worse ones we have had in our life. They should really consider changing the coffee beans.
We were here last year and had a nice lunch, like this time too. Great location in Old Town's Main Square, large terrace, friendly service and really reasonable prices. For example tasty buffet was only 4,90€! Usually places like these are just tourist traps, but...not this one. Known for their large chocolate assortment too.More
