Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A group of us stopped in here for lunch and a couple of drinks when we were exploring outside of the old town. Glad we came here as it was one of our favourite finds. Food was great, myself and husband opted for the pumpkin soup and shared their snack board...cheese balls were delicious and the soup was smooth and flavourful. Everyone else enjoyed what they got too, all washed down with some reasonably priced beers. It was quiet when we went, but the cozy atmosphere didn't make it feel empty. Staff was friendly and helpful but not invasive. I recommend walking that wee bit extra out of the old town to visit here, you won't be disappointed.

We went here on New Year's Eve as some of the restaurants in the walled city were either fully booked or just too expensive. This place is just outside the old town opposite the Von Stackelberg hotel where we were staying. It was an excellent discovery. Nice atmosphere, great value meal and great selection of local beers that were cheaper than most establishments within the old town. The serving staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Last time I was here was a few years ago. The place itself has not changed much but they now have a kids room so you can order a beer and food and let the kids play without rush. The staff here is very good one of them even helped me pick a beer on his coffee break. I recommend the black pudding snacks and any desserts and of course any of the local beers

Food took ages to prepare and tasted terrible. Chicken salad was served with canned peaches. Menu was misleading. Tap water tasted like Pool water. The bill was wrong at the first attempt.

Ordered sourkraut soup, estonian burger and the schnitzel. The soup arrived timely, but the mains… we waited for more than 40 minutes after we finished the soup (all dishes were ordered at the same time). As others mentioned in their reviews, some of the dishes and drinks were not available. My cider replacement (because my first option was not available) was too sour and I believe it was a gone-bad-cider. On the up side, the quality of food matched the price we paid for it: ~41 euros for two soups, two mains, one (gone bad) cider and a glass of white wine.

Went for drinks and dinner on 18/9, the place was pretty much empty. As the lights were completely off (to save electricity?) in the back rooms and it was very dark, we went to the brighter front rooms where the only way to accomodate our group was a long, high table with high stools. In our group, 2 smaller children for whom the stools would have been dangerous, so we proceeded to take 2 high chairs with a back rest from the next (unoccupied) table. This is where it gets weird. The waitress came to tell us that we were not allowed to swap the chairs. We explained that the stools were too dangerous for our children, but she kept repeating that we couldnt swap the chairs. Remember, the whole place is massive and was pretty much empty, and it was a Sunday evening so it wouldn't get very crowded later either, I assume. There were dozens of empty chairs. But no, the boss said that we were not allowed to swap, the waitress said. As we tried to explain that we would put them back, the waitress only repeated the same thing, standing there and waiting for us to put back the chairs. She obviously didn't care that we were going to leave, and that the place would lose out on the income from 6 people having a full dinner and drinks. She looked terrified, although we stayed polite - sounds like she is more terrified of her manager's arbirtrary decisions than angry customers though. We left very angry and having to find another, more welcoming place to eat (and feed our hungry kids). This is not the first time we get appalling service there, and definitely the last time we enter that place. Avoid at all cost - the food is average at best when you manage to get served anyway.

Great food based on local ingredients at a great price. The extra point: lovely ambience close to the trees of Tallinn's park. Nice service as well, and kind with English speaking tourists. Overall, high recommended.

The visit started very promising. We got the starters and first beer and wine fast enough. But everything started to be terrible right after that. I had to wait for 15min to get other beer I have ordered… the whiskey sour I ordered never came, the waiter after I have asked again for it said, that he does not know how to make it and nobody else is willing to help him… and for the mains… after HALF HOUR waiting I got the message that the main I have ordered is sold out I have had enough… paid and left the place.

It was quiet as we visited on a Wednesday evening (and during low season). Pööbel has a great atmosphere and we were greeted warmly. Enjoyed some delicious food, traditional Estonian snacks and some beers. The only issue was that the place seemed short staffed, despite it being quiet, resulting in slow service and forgotten drinks. But overall an enjoyable evening and well priced for the area compared to some of the restaurants in Old Town.

Service was slow. Food is really poor for this price: burger ingredients are really simple and untasty - mayo, few tomato slice, “Estoanian” cheese slice, a bit of lettuce and what’s the worst is that burger bun was over fried in huge amount of oil. The only positive sides are atmosphere and beer selection, though over priced.

No service, no food....we waited for 30 mins for 2 beers, most of the meals listed in the menu were not available. So decided to leave. This used to be a very cosy, good quality local pub with excellent beer selection, service, music and food, but not anymore. Not recommended!

Cheap and wide range beers. Bad service, maybe the worst ever seen. There were two waiters who were not interested in customer service. Expectations were high as the place has been praised. We would have eaten there, but the waiters weren’t interested in taking our order. We left after one beer.

It is a pub somewhat far from the center, well decorated and cozy, but a little dark for my taste, especially if you plan to eat there. It has a good variety of beers at the same price as any bar downtown. We ordered the Estonian tapas and we felt like they had fooled us, they took out a ridiculous amount that didn't even look like the photos from other customers. Judge for yourselves.

Quirky decoration, just what we needed for a snack and a rest. I had a delicious cabbage soup and very yummy cinnamon pancakes. It would have gotten 5 stars if my partner had enjoyed his pork and mushroom meal as much as I enjoyed mine.
