Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Uneatable. Dry chicken with a lot of spice over it, covered with piece of thin bread and tomato sauce all over = burrito. I gave 2 stars for margaritas, which were good.

Very very bad experience. Food was terrible, service was even worse. Rib was covered with fat and no eatable meat. Chilli con Carne was like a bowl of oil soup. There was no change to order rice with it for side dish. And last the...jalapeno sticks had burnt dough. After the feed back to the waiter he said to us: “it is what it is”and we had to pay the full bill. PLEASE PLEASE NEVER GO THERE!!!!More

Went for a business dinner there, super slow service, owner thinks 1 hour and 20 minutes is a recommended time to wait for food that wasn't even ready. Some people never got their food, did not inform about unavailable foods, had to constantly chase and...got incorrect information. For those of us who got the food it was undercooked, and didnt taste much, would not recommend this place to anyone. Poorly coordinated delivery times for food as well if in a group for those who got food at different times with 20-30 minute difference.More

Not the best we have had but on the better side. Guacamole could be better. The location is a bit in the middle of no where. Price is okey, paid 40 euros for two.

The place was empty but somehow the waiter was not friendly and seemed she didn't want to be there. She couldn't do any compromises, everything we asked seemed too much and she didn't smile once. The food was ok, but the experience was negative.

Never been here before, but now that they moved to Kalamaja next street to our "holiday home", we give it a try. There use to be Restaurant Sesoon earlier in this location, so facilities were ready. Quite near popular Baltijaam area, but still not that...easy to find, because it's in inner courtyard of more quiet side street. Huge hall, so not that "homely" or intimate. But was cold and tacos were tasty. Not the best Mexican in town, but worth of try, if you are in this neighbourhoodMore

Ancho is at their new location in Kalamaja. Went there for dinner and to sample whether Mexican food has indeed landed in Tallinn. Had chicken fajitas finishing off with mescale. Atmosphere is warehouse chic with friendly staff.

When visiting Tallinn, it pays to eventually get out of the Old Town. Ancho Mexican is a reminder of that. If you're from neighboring countries where good Mexican food is rare or if you're from a place where you have great, authentic Mexican food but...you've been in country a long time, then I'm glad to confirm that Ancho is the place to get your fix. I've eaten here several times by the time I write this so here are a few points. Ancho pulls their punches by default on spiciness, which is to say they take it easy on people that can't handle spiciness. This suits the palate of people from the Baltic and Northern countries. However, don't be mistaken. The cooks will very quickly ramp it up for you if you are accustomed to proper heat. Just tell the manager what you want and you'll get it, but do be careful what you wish for. I heard a story that a guy came in and asked for the spiciest sauce available. The guest was warned to use it sparingly, and then even offered a new meal at no cost when he poured the hot sauce on. Long story short, the ambulance was called. Just in case: you've been warned. Generally speaking then, the beef dishes are excellent, chicken is spot on, the agua fresca iced drinks are a perfect pairing, and they have a wide selection of Tequilas, Mezcals, and beers chosen by someone that clearly knows his booze. Prices are very good, obviously better value than anything in Old Town. You get what you pay for and walk away with a belly full of the real deal. My only complaint is I hope Ancho will start making their own tortilla chips. That would be excellent. I saw some complaining about food preparation times in other reviews but we've never had a problem with that. If you're in such a rush though, then you aren't looking for a cooked from scratch experience. There's a McDonald's 5 minutes away, head over there and they'll flip a burger for you in 5 minutes flat, no problem. We'll be coming back as regulars as long as Ancho keeps cranking out authentic Mexican. With this restaurant we have genuine, well-priced, and delicious Mexican food in Tallinn. ¡Muchas Gracias, Conor y su equipo!More

A little out of the way but well worth a short walk away from the old town. Very reasonable prices and amazing food, advised by staff that food tasty & not overly spicy but helpfully provided a bottle of hot sauce for those who prefer...it that way. Don't miss.More

This was an excellent experience. Bit out of the centre, but definetely worth the walk. Atmosphere, staff and food was unbelievable. The host was incredibly nice and charming. He offered us one of his own salsas, which was a hot blast. Will without a doubt...visit this place again when I'm in Tallin. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!More
