We have now been going to Chakra's for almost five years now and they have never failed to deliver a GREAT service. Without doubt THE best Indian Restaurant in Tallinn !. Great atmosphere, especially during the autumn and winter months with a very extensive menu of delicious food and an excellent, if not comprehensive, wine list but then this is an Indian restaurant so this is perfectly understandable. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful towards those that may not be overly familiar with their particular brand of regional Indian cuisine. A very nice place to visit as a couple, with family or friends and they can cater for fairly big groups too (with notice). Their recently extended summer terrace also takes care of the new health and safety requirements during the nice summer days and evenings too. We will, for sure, continue to support Ikram and the team for as long as we are in Tallinn and Estonia.

Chakra has a nice interior of stone vaulted ceilings, split into several cosy areas. On a Tuesday lunchtime it was quiet. The service was excellent with the wait staff unfailingly polite and attentive, a credit to their team. We had pakoras to start (paneer and chicken) and whilst the portions were very large, almost too much, both myself and Dining Companion felt they lacked a bit of a punch. This was redressed by the main course, which was delicious. I had chana masala which was extremely tasty, DC had chicken tikka hara and raved about it. The menu is long and vegetarians/vegans are very well served. Naan was a bit anaemic and I don’t think it had been anywhere near a tandoor, but serviceable. The bill came to €60 for two beers, starters, mains and sundries like naan and poppadoms - decent value I felt. As a visitor, I’m not sure how many Indian restaurants there are in Tallinn, but Chakra is certainly a very good example and anyone craving a good curry in this city can head here with confidence.

This is a must go to if you are looking for Indian cuisine in Tallinn. The food is fresh, authentic and delicious and the staff is very attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is located in the cellar of a beautiful medieval building in the Old town and has beautiful Indian interior and ambiance. Highly recommend!

We have been coming to Chakra for 2 years. The food is consistently good, and the service great. The waiters know our order and confirm it with us each time. When we come here, we feel at home. We usually come here 2-4 times a month. Our daughter prefers less spicy food, and the chefs accommodate her request. Sitting outside is enjoyable and the seating inside is comfortable.

Been coming here for several years now. Great cellar restaurant and also have outdoor tables in the courtyard. This is the real McCoy - authentic Indian cuisine at very affordable prices. As usual, excellent friendly service.

The setting and general ambience really put you in the mood for an enjoyable meal even before you start ordering. The only "slight disappointment" of the whole experience was the starters. The salad. although it was well presented, in both my wife's and mine experiences, it did not really meet the authenticity in the crunch and flavour that we have become accustomed to in some other top class Indian restaurants. The pickle dips and raita ( more mint kick please) and poppadums were fine but again in the majority of restaurants are either complimentary or reasonably cheap but this racked up 16:50€ which did appear a bit OTT. That all said it was tasty. We really enjoyed our main course choices of Lamb Rogan Josh for my wife and I opted for the Lamb Niggiri Korma. The choice of Naan breads was fantastic and sadly I only had room for half of my delicious Kabuli. We did however manage to get down as a palate freshener, mango lassi and vanilla ice cream. Would definitely recommend Chakra to any discerning Indian food lover.

Best Indian restaurant in Tallinn with delicious food, great atmosphere and nice people around. The restaurant personnel will always receive you with a big smile. I challenge you to try the crispy samosa and the kulfi ice cream...these are amazing! 😋

I chose this Indian restaurant driven by the desire to taste the excellent Indian cuisine and by the comments I found online. The choice could not have been better: the location is fascinating (an underground structure), full of arches and vaults and decorated with Indian furniture. The waiters were very kind, helpful, smiling, polite and generous with advice and patience, not to mention the food: exquisite! This is an A+ Indian restaurant!

I visited Chakra on 05th August 2021, and can say that the food served here is excellent. It is very close to the taste that you get in India specially the tandoori chicken tikka. The staff was super friendly and I met the Chef, who was equally humble and greeted me with a smile. I would highly recommend to visit this place if you want to try Indian food

If you're looking for a restaurant in Tallinn with exquisite tasting food, then go to Chakra. The lamb curry (no. 50 on the menu) is the chef's grandma's family recipe dish and is on another level. Full of flavour and probably in the top 5 of all curries I've had in the world. And there's been a lot! There's a special ambience inside, but there's also seating outside if the weather is nice. My waiter Izmael was super friendly, professional, courteous, and gave the best recommendations. Do not come to Tallinn without visiting this restaurant!

Chakra wins as one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to on the European continent. Our group of three (two from U.S. and one from India) were looking for Indian options near the old town. The food is diverse and authentic, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and it is conveniently located near the old town. We went two times. We went for dinner one evening at 73€ with plenty of leftovers and a second time for a tea/snack break at 14.40€. The staff were also friendly and helpful. This is also a great place to go for a romantic date. It feels like a small slice of India served up in Tallinn. Don't miss out.

I know it’s not exactly traditional Estonian cuisine, but let me tell you it’s a top quality Indian curry restaurant. We were disappointed there were no onion Bhaji on the menu, but fear not the waiter said chef could make us some, and he certainly did. We got 6 perfect (and large) freshly made and not at all oily. May be the starter bhaji’s filled us up but there was more than enough curry with rice to be enjoyed. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Tallinn.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was cooked perfectly and made with the highest quality ingredients. I have never had chicken so tasty and tender, with the perfect balance of spices. We also ordered the Tandoori Fish, which was also cooked to perfection. A truly wonderful restaurant!

It was much disappointing as we went with huge expectations. I think of I did not read the reviews before going I would have had much lower expectations. We had 2 starters that were ok. The papadums was the closest to real indian papadums I have had since I moved back to North 4/5. But compared to what we have had in the South and India it is 3/5. The crunchy chicken was ok. I was though confused because I thought I was ordering Pakora, and as I have always got that bread (papadums) as complimentary starter in almost every restaurant I ever visited before. So I never needed to learn it’s name (papadums). For main course we took Vindaloo and Biryani. 2.5/5 for the biryani, that was ordered by my husband who has lived in India for 7 years of his life, and the vindaloo was for me, it was spicy enough (hot) which made me happy enough but as I have been eating that for over 30 years from different Indian kitchens (chefs from Delhi, Kerala, Goa... etc) as my favourite Indian dish, it was 3/5, good quality meat but not the right balance for me I felt the sweetness in it bit too clear. We ordered 2 nans (garlic and butter) both were good 4/5 and I felt like flaky Parathas, I didn't even recognise it. It was underneath (literally raw in the middle) I thought it was one of the naan's because it was nothing like a paratha (which I have been eating for over 40 years) 1/5 for that paratha. I know my naan, and the Paratha I was offered was looking more like naan than paratha. I have had oven (tandoori) cooked paratha before, but it never came raw and not at all flaky as if it is undercooked naan! The customer service was really bad. No smile, seemed angry because he had to work. And when ever asked about stuff in menu gave so unclear answers with low voice and unhappy face. So how do you expect one to ask tawa paratha if he was not even responsive. The atmosphere was lovely. Very nice old Indian music, the place was dark that gave it some romantic feel.

Dear Maam, We understand the food might not be to your liking. But I would like to point of somethings : 1. When you came to pay, you told us that you did not even get papadams and breads on the table then, we had to explain you which one was papadam, what is paratha and they were served also can be seen in the pictures you uploaded. We Indians do not consider Papadams as bread, rather as a side or an appetizer. Also adding the the comment for closest : The papadams served in our restaurant are imported from India. Every business works in a different way so in the future please do not consider it will come for free everywhere, as in Tallinn 99% restaurants do not serve it for free! 2. When I replied to your review earlier pointing out the facts, then suddenly you deleted/edited that review and added a comment saying disrespectful customer service. (Very strange the review you deleted or edited never mentioned it earlier) 3. India is a very big country. Food/taste changes every region, all people have their own ways to modify food as per individual preferences. We do not have any guide book saying which one is the right one. Best Regards, Team Chakra
