Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The end of April was prehaps to early to visit Haapsalu the cathredral and musuem were closed and it was cold and windy but there was a very warm welcome in this small cosy resturant, which soon filled up at around midday. A charming young...lady spoke English and told us there was a lunch special which we had (along with the local brew). I can strongly recommend this resturant along with the locals that filled the place.More

Oh my goodness, could this place be any more perfect? I tried to book a table for an early dinner on the day but the wait staff explained there was a big group coming in and they simply didn’t have the capacity but encouraged me...to return when we were ready to eat & they’d do their best to find a table. I was disappointed BUT the offer was very genuine so we returned @ our preferred time & sure enough a table push here & a wiggle there & we were in. We shared the sizzling prawns, my husband had the fish of the day - Baltic Herring caught as locally as you can and I had the duck confit. Both beautifully cooked, perfectly seasoned and well presented. We drank sparkling, cider and wine to match by the glass. Our waiter was the perfect combination of friendly/welcoming, professional and just a very interesting & delightful young person who also made us laugh. Karoline provided us with great local info but also left us to enjoy our meal - it was an anniversary dinner. Then came dessert & of course @ Hapsal Dietrich it’s all about the cakes. We shared @ piece of the strawberry sponge gateaux with the BEST decaf coffee I’ve ever had (& we’re Melbourne coffee snobs) and grabbed a piece cherry chocolate cake ‘for the road’. In case you hadn’t guessed, I highly recommend this place, hope I get to come back some day & hope you have an equally lovely experience.More

Incredible food and lovely service in this cute and charming spot. Right next to the castle walls, you will first be wow'd by their desserts...they take centre stage when you walk in. The food was exceptional! I had the wild boar and mash and my...husband the peanut chicken. We split the cheese plate with home made crackers and then had a piece of their banoffee cheesecake. Everything was absolutely delicious, fresh, and thoughtfully presented.More

Oh my god. This place was amazing. Service 10/10 and food was really delicious. We got to the city by sailing, and landed to the city centrum really late on the evening. Accually the only terrace where was somebody still eating, we asked for kitchen...hours. Friendy staff member invited us to the table, even the kitchen was closing after 20minutes. Lady give as a brilliant proposal what to eat, so we ordered gin&tonics, starters and main courses and bottle of wine. Food was amazing, and service was tip top. After the main course we moved inside the restaurant to have irish coffees for dessert. Restaurant was closing but girls let us stay inside and enjoy our great dinner with friends. Thank you again for absolutely great experience🙏🏽More

The food is good, though the prices have gone up. Little cosy place and I especially enjoy the street view. Their warm octopus salad is very good, so is caesar and tartar.. and mussels. The atmosphere is great, though service a bit slow. Overall 4...points of 5 and will visit in the furure too. (NB! The other great place of those 2 is Wiigi kohvik, in case you were wondering 😉). I recommend visiting both of those places whenever you are in Haapsalu.More

Excellent food and attentive friendly service. The menu is relatively small, which for me is always a good sign. I just wanted a simple dish so chose the pork schnitzel with german potatoes. It was crispy and cooked to perfection and served with a nice...sauce and lingonberry jam; a great combination. My wife had the excellent fried herring. Washed down with a local craft beer and followed by really nice cake. This is not cheap but it’s not ridiculous and is a great little restaurant.More

Owner told that he doesnt care if the customer doesnt like the the food, he told if you don’t like the food don’t visit us we, have plenty of customers. Most of the food was edable. Octupus .. Ok, very tuff and not described in...the menu as baby octubus.. prawns dish Ok .. at least not over cooked but dry and stuck on pan.. no oili chilli garlic sauce ..Chicken was unedable, raw from the middle and as a masin cource served in a soup boul in a lumpy satay sauce wich was far from satay .. half cold and lumpy.. on top was couple of crated carrot pieces raw … abosultlely awful. So we ate all and fine but didnt eat the Chicken dish, we sent the Chicken back, completly uneaten, took 1 bite and later we were told that the kitchen and the owner refuses to even apologize and not even a complementary espresso..that we still need to pay full price for the chicken dish even though we were unable to eat it, soggy, cold and pink in the middle.. so the waitress told if we have problem then call the owner … so we sat there calling the owner of the restaurant on a Saturday night .. wow and kindly explained that 1 dish was unedable, after what the owner told us rudely “if you don’t like what we serve don’t return” go pay your bill and and we don’t care what you think.. we have plenty other customers.. We v owned restaurants in London, Italy, Finland and have never ever seen such owner behavior over a 14 euro chicken .. it is not about the money, this is the worst of worst customer service we have ever seen anywhere in the world. Poor stuff of the restaurant.. it is not their fault.. they are so terrified to do their job right for the customer as the owner is an absolute rude stuck up uneducated personality. God would have left the 14 euros as a tip for the lovely scared waitress. How sad that the loveliest little city Haapsalu has a place owned by a complete gangster type stuck up rude person with quit a violent behavior toward its customers.. scary. Never dare to complain in that restaurant! With just an apologie and one espresso on house would have done it! we would have left satisfied and not written a bad review. Absolutely shocked!!!More

We visited Dietrich for lunch and had a delicious meal - nice presentation - followed by a super pistachio cake - one of many to choose from! Great for vegetarians. The service was very friendly and welcoming and when one of the group couldn't decide...what to have to drink with their cake the staff recommended a fruit tea which was enjoyed.More

It´s a tiny but very cozy restaurant in Haapsalu. I´ve been there several times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and attentive. It`s remarkable that they have been able to keep this level for several years already. This...time I enjoyed there fantastically good fried chicken liver - ten points!More

Dietrich delivers fresh, tasty and versatile food with something extra. The milieu is very pleasant, the music is not too loud and the terrace by the street creates a cozy extension to the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and professional. Best place in town,...if you ask me!More

We had a dinner and some cakes here with the family. Food was the best that we ate on our trip in Estonia, sevice was ok in Estonian level and cakes are to die for. A bit pricy compared to other restaurants in the area,...but also worth it. The venue itself if beautiful too.More

Travelling from Australia. We had two days in Haapsalu, had read the good reviews so thought we would try it. The restaurant was quite full but the lovely waitress found us a table for two outside. It started to rain quite heavily but we were...undercover and quite happy. She asked us several times if we wanted a table inside or blankets, so attentive! We shared the chilli prawns and sweet potato for entree which was very good. Cooked perfectly. Main meal was flounder and duck meat cannelloni with a shared Chocolate torte for dessert. The service was some of the best we have had in Estonia and the food was amazing. Can’t recommend enough.More

We stayed for lunch and cake on a sunny afternoon. Lovely terrace and atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Everything tasted great: good quality ingredients, simple yet tasty. If nothing else, try the cakes! Lots of options, all of them looking amazing.
