This place had amazing reviews.... but the latest one was from 2019! We are a couple on holiday in Slovakia and on seeing the earlier reviews hoped for a hidden gem of a restaurant. From the high expectations we were disappointed, but it wasnt bad...either, but it was also quite expensive, so we were conflicted. We arrived on a Sunday evening (11/06/23) at about 19.30 which you would expect to be peak time and the place was a nearly empty. We thought it was completely empty on arriving as we had not seen a German couple of guys sitting round the corner. Sneakily there was a table right by the entrance which had a reserved sign which implied there was some custom,,, Anyway a waiter came over and through a mixture of German and English we established that the restaurant was indeed open and we then sat at a table near the fireplace. The waiter provided a menu with English translation and was generally attentative We noticed straight away that the table cloth wasnt particularly clean - it wasnt filthy but there were a few marks on it. Then the bottle of wine came out. The waiter struggled to open it but then proceeded to pour it into a huge carafe! This was impressive but the carafe was a bit chipped round the rim and so like much of the experience hinted at hard times for a formally premium place. Then we got a free pre starter which nice and I had a bruchetta which was presented very well and tasted great. The mains however were slightly disappointing - they werent bad but there was no wow factor either To the ambience - for our entire meal there were two other people in the restaurant, who then left about half way through our meal. There was also a small dog who we kicknamed "scraps" who came and looked up at us pleadingly for some food.. We gave him a few scraps... Anyway it was a slightly (but not massively) above average meal but quite expensive to boot in an empty restaurant. Our food with the wine was €82+tip The waiter was a decent guy though Unsure whether to recommend or not!More
