Love the decor service and food here. Been three of maybe four times this year. In the summer, the terrace on the main square is very burger and ribs while in the other seasons the inside has regional specialities and seasonal fare (autumn in the case).
Presumably the name is a nod to the historic location of this Austro-Hungarian gem of a town but also the automated punkah (fan) inside is a novel addition.
The food is always good as is the wine.... one should try the Slovak Veltlinkse which is every bit as good as Austria's version.

The market square in Spisska Nova Ves is sort of cigar-shaped, quite popular in this part of Slovakia. As it is very big, the middle part of it, usually left as an open space, here is dotted with some heritage buildings, so it dosn't really feel like market square anymore. On the northern part of the square, paralel to the street theres a string of smaller open spaces, where some of them were turned into car parks, while rest of them are taken by gazebos from adjacent restaurants. This is where we found ourselfs on one very hot august night, having our dinner. Open sides of gazebo gave us much needed ventilation, while we had our meals, so we didn't even bother checking how it is inside the main part of the restaurant in the building. Even if it was outdoor seating, the waiters were excellent with taking orders quickly (english and german menus available) and then delivering our meals. It seems like they specialise in Italian dishes, but they do have good choice of local meals as well. The only thing I would complain about is people smoking by their tables, which obviously means the cigarette stench is included in price... But this is not nly this restaurant, it seems like Slovakia must be the last country still allowing smoking in public places. But the food was great, delicious, and the place worth visiting.

Really bad food. I had curry risotto… two main ingredients were parboiled rice and canned pineapple. My gf had chicken breast with ceasar. She described the salad as the worst one she ever had. Avoid

Came here and my parents ordered two risottos and the waitress came and only brought one. I, as a vegetarian ordered a vegetarian burrito and after a few bites I realised it had beef in it. 😠

Really enjoy our meals here. Have eaten here multiple times. Menu is very large selection our table consists from salmon to chicken and pasta. They can supply you with English menu.

I have been first time at this place and I got impressed from the quality of food and service. Waiter which was serving us was very funny which made our day nicer. Definitely not the first and last time... It is more than worth to visit it.

I have tried almost every disch in Nostalgias Menu.
Everything is very good. But the cream of garlic is what makes me go back there again and again...
The ambiente is very nice and cozy. And the waiters are normally very polite.

We were visiting for one evening so ate here as it seemed to have lots of choices. We were right, the menu is big and seems to cover all food types inc Italian, Mexican.
The restaurant itself is a good size and pleasant inside and it is obviously popular. I had the minestrone soup starter, which was decent, followed by the fillet steak with potatoes - this was ok but if I’m honest it was a bit lacking in any sauce/condiment/flavour (it had a very small bit of garlic butter with it). My partner had the salmon gnocchi which had a massive amount of sauce with it (at least I was able to borrow some then!) and again this was ok, nothing amazing.
The atmosphere is fine but it was really noticeable that your plates are removed within what seems seconds of you finishing your food, but maybe turning tables around in a busy place is the key.
In summary, in my view a decent option where there’ll be something for everyone on the menu and you sort of get what you’re expecting to, and it did job, but it wasn’t standout.
