Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Kosice. On the main street by the National Theatre. Restaurant and Cafe has a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely although a few more choices suitable for pescatarian would be appreciated. The service was very professional. I would come...back again.More

We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was very good, with some original touches, the presentation lovely and the service pleasant. This is a pretty restaurant -- and hotel -- in a historic building. As you enter from the street, look up...one of the...loveliest buildings in Kosice.More

We had a first nice experience that day when we stopped for a coffee and decided to come back for dinner (big mistake). Now, the beauty of the building does not compensate the rudeness of the staff. We felt unwelcome (it was about 9 and...they wanted to take the last order). Still, we waited a lot until the food arrived and that nicely described tender veal will turn out to be a huge plain snitzel. For a restaurant at that standard, you cannot serve plates like that...at those costs! Janos, the waiter didn't make the slightest effort to accommodate us and I may say that has nothing to do with being a waiter.More

Pavement seating and classy lounge bar entrance on Hlavna. Called in to try an evening cocktail. Superb quality drinks. This was a pleasant surprise only because so many places (in most countries) offer expensive cocktails but deliver mediocrity. Espresso martini, Irish whisky sour, and a...“True Pina”, all magnificent.More

Dinner was fine, we ate here twice. However, unlike most places in Kosice, deserts were a true disappointment. Of the three desserts on the menu, for two days they did not have the one I asked for (chocolate meringue and raspberries in season), a black...board with special desserts, but again when I ordered from the specials, they didn’t have the one I asked for (bananas in chocolate). So one evening I ordered a special asparagras dessert, and after she served it, the waitress told us that this was the first time the kitchen had ever made it, and they were asking each other how to do it, etc. etc. Why have things on the menu if you don’t know how to make them or have practiced them. And why have things on special blackboard that you don’t have when you could just erase it from the blackboard. Made no sense to me.More

After reading the raving reviews we decided this would be the expensive dinner for our holiday. Upon entering we felt the staff were unwelcoming, it then took around 25 minutes for the waiter to take our order. The ox-tail soup was horrendously bland, and the...trout had an extremely suspicious texture/taste. As a chef I can say that this food would be unacceptable in a London restaurant. The combined experience of bad food and feeling like a burden on the staff is only the icing on the cake however. We spent the rest of night taking turns on the airBnB toilet. In all, Slavia, despite not being too pricy, is obscenely overpriced for the experience we received. Don’t give them your money, they don’t deserve it. (The vibe is nice though)More

We visited this place as it was advised by many. We only ordered some hot chocolate, which was good and wanted to have some cocktails after. The waiter asked which cocktail we wanted and then if we were from Hungary. We said “yes” and he...laughed and told us that “he just wanted to make sure”. Afterwards we waited 30 minutes and received nothing, the waiter didn’t even talk to the bartender as we could see. Then we wanted to pay and told this to a waitress, but also there nobody cared…and they forgot about us. Only when we stood up we were able to pay, but even there one of the waiters wanted to ignore us at first… It would have been a great experience and we wanted to maybe come back in a couple of days to try some of the dishes too, but not with this poor service. And if this was all because we are Hungarian, then that is just disgusting…never again.More

We saw this gorgeous restaurant from across the street and decided to stop in for dinner. We were a bit early for dinnertime, but they were able to accommodate us. Our waiter was so welcoming and kind. And the food was PHENOMENAL. We didn’t leave...a single crumb on any of our dishes. I’m surprised this place doesn’t have any Michelin stars yet. I’ve eaten at many, and Slavia’s quality of food was definitely at the same level. The strawberry yogurt mousse absolutely blew my mind. The best desert I’ve ever had. I’m not sure when I’ll be visiting Slovakia again, but I would 1000% come back just for the food here.More

From the time we sat till the time we left everything was great. The service and food was wonderful. My son and I enjoyed our entrees which were veal schnitzel and homemade potato salad and a beef strongoff with homemade dumplings. We had a soup...and a grilled salad which we both enjoyed. I would highly recommend this place.More

The food was plain and took long to arrive. The drinks also had a poor quality. The only advantages are the view and the building itself.

I tried this restaurant a few years ago, and I was curious to see it it was still as good as I remembered: well, I wasn't disappointed. First of all the service is very professional, and everything in the restaurant is top notch. I choose...a wiener schnitzel, and it was one of the best I've eve had. Before that they brought me an appetizer on the house, very tasty. The only thing that I would probably change is the side, which was potato salad...but even if it was good, maybe something else could be a better choice...but it's just for me! Very good experience all in all.More

I had as good a meal here as I’ve had anywhere in Europe. The dinner reminded me just how overlooked Kosice is as a place to visit. I had been trying to eat here for a few days. But at least twice they were closed...due to private occasions. The atmosphere is understated elegance. The Hotel Slavia is here too. So one can enter via Hlavna Street or the hotel side. The bar is classic & attractive-it’s a great place to meet for a drink. I started with a traditional soup of sheep cheese. Different and tasty. I then had the stroganoff. The slices of beef were tender & seasoned with paprika & other spices. Gear sauce. The dish did not come mixed with noodles as we expect in the US. Instead there was a side dish,gnocchi-like, but from wheat & no potatoes. The sirloin of the stroganoff was so tasty. It was also not a heavy dish. And dipping the side into the sauce was great too. Outstanding service-the waiter helped explain dishes.More
