This small & charming bistro is a couple short blocks from Hlavna Street. I’ve stopped for lunch before but could not get in-they were so crowded. Now I came for dinner & got in. Bistro Blanc has a menu that changes daily, with three entrees,...a few appetizers, salads, and dessert. Surprisingly, the waiter informed me they would make something else if possible, if I didn’t want anything on the menus. I’ve never before been to a restaurant that offered to cook anything not on the menu, as soon as I walked in. But the daily menu had wonderful (& therefore difficult) choices. I started with avocado carpaccio, small pieces of avocado, tomato, lime, & more. (See photo.) then I had the sautéed beef with rice & a tasty cole slaw. The beef pieces were tender in a seasoned sauce. (See photo.) I decided to have my first dessert in Kosice, a brownie they baked (delicious), topped by vanilla ice cream. Dinner at Bistro Blanc is an all around fantastic experience. The staff is excellent, and the food is even better. The menu changes regularly and every time we have been there we have been delighted with our meals. Recently they had a grilled goat cheese...salad in a Dijon dressing that was as good as any salad I’ve ever had. The mushroom risotto and the steak seared in butter were perfectly prepared.
