Great food, warm and welcoming staff

I came here twice whilst visiting Bratislava. This spot is welcoming and cozy with great coffee, craft beer, and fresh, delicious food from a creative menu. They serve breakfast a little later on weekends, so I was able to enjoy a delicious English Breakfast with a delicious mimosa. The staff here are so sweet and their kind and attentive service made both of my visits all around great experiences and a definite highlight of Bratislava.

Trendy and pricey cafe in the heart of Bratislava

A popular cafe in a great location very close to Michalska Gate. Looks very clean and upscale with a trendy design and wonderful decoration inside. We visited for breakfast and the menu contains some decent breakfast options. We ordered the Sold Out pancakes (one of the most popular dishes, if I can make a guess from the reviews), the croque madame toast, and 2 espresso coffees. The pancakes were indeed quite tasty (although for 11 euros I would expect a bigger portion) but the croque madame toast was OK but not something special. Coffees were OK and the service was quite good. Overall, it is undoubtedly a nice cafe, but given the prices and the whole ambiance, perhaps we expected something more. It is worth visiting though!

Pricey but quite a nice cafe

Went in for a quick drink. Partner had a local beer that was very tasty and recommended by the waitress. I had a hot chocolate that was extremely sweet but delicious regardless. It's a nice cafe but not as amazing as we expected based on the reviews online. Quite pricey as well and wouldn't necessarily go back as the place didn't feel that special.

Good food and drinks, below average service

Staff were on the phones, and they didn’t check on us for 20 minutes. When we asked for the menu again, the waitress just left with no words and a “wtf are you still doing here” look on her face. We noticed when the manager/boss asked a chef to not use her phone while preparing food, the chef immediately went back on the phone once he left. Food was good, ambience excellent, but would not return back because of the staff. There are too many superior food options nearby to waste a meal at this place.

Located on the main old town

Located on the main old town promenade, the Bistro stays out among the “guaranteed” Local cuisine restaurants with its urban look and global design. It offers a simple but colourful menu, bowls and salats and vegan sweets. The service is pleasant, seating cousy. Worldtrotters step in! Craft local beers and fresh ideas await!

Not good for allergies

Lovely vibe and setting. Friendly servers. I asked twice if what I wanted was gluten free and was assured it was. When it arrived it had soy sauce on. Obviously, I had to send it back as it would have made me very ill to eat it. I watched the chefs face directly as she was told and she looked at me and turned her nose up. I felt so unwelcome. We ordered a croque Madame for our son, it came COVERED in spicy sauce so our son couldn’t eat it. The server took the sandwich off the bill and offered us a complimentary desert (which was great). But it was too late to say yes. Ultimately, this was 2 really Significant errors that could have made 2 of us extremely poorly. Would not Recomemd on that basis.

Menu for Slovak speakers only. Salad ingredients are combination of basic vegetables and modern food. Small portions. We had a mistake in our order, no one from the staff thought about fixing the situation more than adding broccoli in a side dish

Outstanding breakfast

First thing to say is the prices aren’t cheap (UK high end bistro prices) but the breakfast we had was 10/10. I had the full English style breakfast. The poached eggs were perfectly runny and the bacon not over cooked, just how I like it. The portion sizes are substantial so you won’t leave hungry. My friend had the pancakes, and he said they were possibly the best pancakes he’s ever had. Just be aware that Urban Bistro (along with many other establishments in Bratislava) do not let you split the bill. One person in your group will have to pay the whole tab. Not ideal if travelling in a group but that’s the way they do things here. Make sure you visit if you’re in Bratislava, you won’t regret it.

Don't waste your time - Avoid!

Do not waste your time (and money) coming here. There is no organisation when it comes to who gets served and when. We waited 30 minutes for food and coffee and ended up leaving without sampling either. Two larger tables ordered after us and were served their coffees before us. No apology was offered by the waiter when we asked why this was we were just told "it's based on the whole restaurant" which makes absolutely no sense as surely tables should be served in the same order as their orders are taken? Whilst waiting for our food and coffee, the orange juice I ordered did arrive....€5.90 for a tiny glass of juice full of pips. Absolute rip off and should have been offered free of charge as a gesture of goodwill for the length of time we waited and the total disorganisation of service.

inattentive unprofessional staff

Kudos to the chef, I have ordered chicken burger the best I have ever ate! The waitress has recommended me a very nice wine which is why I gave her a tip. Unfortunately service let this bistro down. I had to call to get attention from three staff whom were chatting at the beverage station happily ignoring me (until I shouted so hard it was impossible to ignore)to ask what has happened about the sauces I have ask for, after getting the burger&chips without any condiments (which I thought was odd)as I had my food on the table already, getting cold and the bistro was not busy at all. My friends tea was served with out a tea spoon and a saucer, just a cup and a pot. For this reason I am giving this experience one star. Unprofessional and inattentive staff, having to have to be loud because you are getting blatantly ignored by staff is really not hot.

Amazing quality

The food was exceptional quality. The atmosphere is perfectly created to feel cosy yet stylish and modern. The music was a great vibe too. The food and drinks were on the more pricey side in comparison to other bistros and cafes in the area but this is obviously reflected in the quality of the product. I would definitely recommend. It also has veggie and vegan options available

This Bistro is a nice place to hang out and have a drink. We also had food, unfortunately the bowls were not available, but also thw curry was really good. the prices are rather expensive, but overall very nice and would recommend having a drink and something small to ear here.

Great atmosphere to relax

We had dinner and then sat here with a few drinks for hours just relaxing and listening to the music, it was such a great atmosphere. Relaxed, friendly, music good but not too loud to chat. The service was super friendly and efficient. The food was really tasty but the menu was quite small so not a huge amount of choice. There were a couple of traditional dishes and a couple of easy burger-type options. All in all we’d recommend it for somewhere to sit and chill after a hard day sightseeing!

English Breakfast

On my day of departure from Bratislava towards other places in Slovakia I went to the 'Urban Bistro', almost opposite of my hotel, both on busy Michalska street. There is pleasant outdoor seating, great also for watching all the tourist activity going on here. A not overly friendly waitress brought me the menu card, which contained quite some interesting choices like three types of Egg Benedict, Wasabe or Hummus Toast, Quesadillas and also Vegan Options. I went for the English Breakfast, which consisted of two poached eggs, sausages, roasted tomato and potatoes, home-made baked beans on a tomato sauce and toasted bread. It was good. I could not say this of the nicely presented capuccino I had with it, which tasted mainly of milk and hardly of any coffee.

Very Good Choice for Breakfast/Brunch

We were pleased to find Urban Bistro in the hear of Bratislava's old town. It was the perfect option for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The menu is not huge but there are several nice options that we found to be the perfect size and with great taste. The service was quick and attentive and we will definitely return next time we are in town.
