The Houdini is a high class restaurant on the ground floor of the Marrol hotel. It offers a good value lunchtime menu in sophisticated surroundings with excellent service. My smoked salmon starter was exceptional and the main course was also imaginative and delicious. Local craft beers were on offer with well-kept local wines. The overall price for the fixed menu was no more than we have paid in less stylish Bratislava restaurants

We stayed at the beautiful Marl's Boutique Hotel. Although we had our breakfasts there,my wife and I decided to have one dinner in the restaurant. We were happy we did.
My wife had the Shirmps and St. Jacob's scallops while I had the Brook Trout Roll. I was very happy with the dish I had, especially the chef made the skin of the trout very crispy. It was delicious.My wife was also very happy with her dish.
It's really worth a visit when you are in Bratislava.

We enjoyed a tasty mid week lunch in the comfortable setting of the Houdini Restaurant at Hotel Marrol. The waiter was friendly, professional and attentive. The lunch menu was ample and good value for the quality. Diners had an option to choose from A La Carte menu too. GF options available which I required. All dishes well labelled. We started with Foie Gras and a Leaf Salad, and followed with a veal dish and steak burger, both tasty and well presented. We enjoyed. We did not have a third course as we felt sufficiently full. We had a good Slovakian red wine to accompany our meal. Lovely atmosphere, nicely paced service for a leisurely lunch.

We had an amazing last lunch in Bratislava at Houdini. The lunch set menu prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and white glove service. The mushroom soup and gnocchi were incredible. The staff were very professional and friendly and even offered to store our bags whilst we enjoyed lunch. The atmosphere is vibrant and the decor is very stylish. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Excellent food and service in there.
Both main dishes were excellent! Prices are potentially a bit higher than others but with the service then quality & quantity of the mains you are more than happy with that. Waiters spoke good english too which is a bonus. A bit quiet when we went too but don’t mind that

Arrived here for dinner on the evening of Saturday 21 Jan 2023 and discovered that I had made a booking for the 22nd - the staff did all they could to save my embarrassment and sourced a table for what was a gastronomic feast. The food and wine were amazing - and the service excellent!! A great modern interpretation of Slovakian dishes in a wide ranging menu executed in a classic manner. The Slovakian wines were a revelation and everything very competitively priced.

We switched to this restaurant as the tasting menu at the UFO contained too many ingredients which were not for me, and rather overpriced too. Good decision.
Houdini has a calm ambience, with a nice welcome and very good service.
All courses were delicious, with a very good wine list.
I love the real traditional dining room feel of Houdini, but with real warmth and hospitality. Very nice decor.

Strongly disappointed. I choose that restaurant because of tripadvisor’s review. They are in my opinion strongly overated.
The atmosphere is quite standard,fake premium, in the lobby of a hotel. No warmth, no surprise, but we knew that from the pictures.
Disappointment started with the food. Starters (13 to 18€) were bistro basics, we chose rosbeef and mozzarella balls. Both accompanied with the same out of supermarket bags salad leafs, olive oil, and thats it… the slices of meat had absolutely nothing particular and only the almond/nuts crisp of the mozzarella balls seemed home made, not bringing any in-mouth novelty or surprise though…
Main dish we choose the only pure slovak dish, pirohy, typical cheese dumplings. The only noticeable aspect of this pirohy version (my wife is slovak so I tried many home made versions before), was the cook’s hair in the plate…
I had the deer, which was my dinner’s highlight. Soft and juicy, perfectly cooked and tender, with sweet mushrooms siders.
Wine was really decent, we wanted to stay slovak and paid 45€ for a local bottle (Hron), I tried many slivak wine and mt expectations, especially for ref are low. I was positively surpriseby this one.
I’m french and always complaining, but rarely do I post on internet to share disappointments. I believe that one deserved it. I received recommandations from locals but when for the « secured » tripadvisors review. Well… pass it…

This was a special meal for our 40th wedding anniversary and one which we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately it resulted in us leaving the restaurant, myself in tears, after having our day absolutely spoiled by a disgusting offering from what is supposed to be a 5*restaurant. I ordered the supposedly “hand made linguine” with mushrooms and what arrived was a plate of what I can only describe as super noodles. It was definitely not linguine, or spaghetti, highly over salted and inedible. My husband’s cuttlefish risotto was no better. The “chef” certainly likes his salt. It was a disaster and totally ruined our day. If you want linguine or risotto in Bratislava, go to Gatto Matto. They know how to make it there! Houdini’s version is a disgrace

Excellent meal, staff were attentive and an overall good evening. Getting six different meals, starters, mains and deserts perfect is very difficult but they delivered . The local wines were lovely and we all had a wonderful night.

Good food for vegetarians can be a challenge in Central Europe. The Houdini rose to the challenge with 2 fine starters and 2 main courses, followed by excellent desserts. Good choice of local wines at reasonable prices as well as pricier imported ones. Dishes were standard fare offered to vegetarians in meat-led places: risotto, pasta, goat's cheese salad, but were well-prepared and tasty. Excellent and unintrusive service. Can recommend.

We ate pistachio-crusted lamb fillet and cheese-filled bacon dumplings. Both dishes absolutely top prepared, well seasoned and extremely delicious. As a dessert the chocolate cake and also it had a very intense taste that calls for repeating! The service was very accommodating and attentive! For us the value for money fit but compared to other restaurants in Bratislava it was a bit more expensive but as I said: every cent is worth it!

The service was excellent! Plus, the chef recommended dish was wonderful - lamb calf confit. Fall off the bone tender and delicious. Wine paired to perfection and a delicious dessert to top it off - rhubarb tort with strawberries. An outstanding meal!

We were told that Houdini’s was one of the finest restaurants in all of Slovakia. We began with a deconstructed tomato and buffalo mozzarella dish. The tomatoes included heirlooms, sundried tomatoes, an assortment of other tomatoes, herbs, and pesto. Wonderful! Light, fresh, and very flavorful. Braised lamb shank. Finely chopped carrots. Paired with Slovakian Danuj red wine. Finished with a tokaji. Overall, a very nice dining experience.

Finding a good fine-dining restaurant in Bratislava sounded like a challenge, but Houdini set a decent level. The food is tasty, wine selection is good, including some local wines. What made a good impression on me was how tables were spaced - they weren't crowded and it was possible to have a normal conversation. The waitress also spoke good English and they accommodated my rebooked request for birthday cake. I was considering booking that restaurant or UFO. I'm glad with my choice of Houdini.
