Out of this world UFO - perfection in fine dinning with a view of Bratislava .... and that would be a short description of one of the most impressive restaurants I've ever been to.
However it wouldn't be enough so here are some other thoughts about UFO.
So , first things first - make a reservation , the restaurant has a limited capacity and you may not be able to find a table if you just decide to "drop by". When you make your online reservation you'll make a deposit - but that deposit will be deducted from you final bill.
Service - impeccable - presentation of dishes, finishing those at the table in front of you - is just enhancing the experience.
Food - when you look at the menu , you'll see a very good selection of international cuisine. My choices , foie gras, a beef pho, beef fillet and curd dumplings for dessert ... Each and every one of those a genuine piece of culinary art in a dish.
Perfectly balanced, presented in an unexpected way - the pho soup was boiled in front of us to be infused with herbs exactly before it was served ... never seen something similar first hand.
The curd dumpling - a common and really "humble" sort of dessert was transformed into a fine dinning experience - decomposed , rethought and eventually reinvented in a way that I wouldn't have thought about.
The tastes were balance, subtle , refined ... everything was just perfect.
Prices - well for sure it wasn't cheap, was it worth it ? definitely !! and than some, taking in account the whole experience , I would go there again anytime.
Overall, an awesome experience, excellent food, excellent service and all that with a view.
I definite must do when in Bratislava !!

Let’s face it, you come here for one thing: the view. And that’s spectacular. Great downtown location with views across all of Bratislava. Service was also very good. The food was tasty but overpriced and the portions were quite fiddly so I left as hungry as I arrived. I’d recommend visiting here for drinks only and eat elsewhere.

Cool UFO designed building with high quality decor and excellent service. I had a five course meal of quality food which was artistically presented with a smile. The quality of food and service is great especially for such affordable and fair prices, if this restaurant was in London or Paris you would have paid 5 times the amount.

We went to UFO for a family lunch. Be careful, you need to book a table well ahead, they are quite booked. We have been seated to table at the window with really beautiful view on the city. Food selection is a bit weird, several degustation menu options but not too many free a la carte selection. Food itself was very tasty and nicely served, service also great. So far, so good. Only until I got the bill, 160€ for 2 adults and a kid is simply too much considering what we got. Dissapointing end of a family lunch that otherwise would have been a perfect experience

Funny how you can change opinion in an instant...
I came 4 years ago to that restautant and had an amazing souvenir.
But today, the waiter had us served not fresh tap water which tasted really bad and tried to have us pay for it. Didn't open any bottle in front of us, did not show the bottle, dod not ask if we wanted still or sparkling. When we pointed him the absurdity, he agreed to have us not pay the tap water.... And later came with a bill including tap water.
A good thing that after we insisted, after 4 people typed on their computer for 20 min, they "managed" to take it off the bill!!!
I felt I was treated like a stupid tourist and hated the impression. Too bad it is the souvenir I will now have from this place, will never come back, and will stop recommend it.
In addition I did not really appreciate being told 45 min after having ordered meat that no more meat was available.

Please note, that we do not serve any tap water to our guests, the only served water is minerall water in 0,33 or 0,75 l bottles, even if it is served in carafes, not in original bottles.

My friend and I were visiting Bratislava just a few days ago and we were having some trouble understanding the menu because were not familiar with the foods. Our server - I believe his name was Jan - was very kind and patiently explained everything to us. He also explained where each one of the wines came from, he was very attentive, and he made sure that everything was to our liking. It made the entire experience so much better for having such a great server. If you decide to visit, I suggest you ask for a table wherever Jan might be serving.
And if Jan happens to read this, thank you for the great dining experience. :)

We initially took an evening reservation but, due to the bad weather in that day, we changed for lunch. The people on the phone were very friendly and supportive even if we called once to change the hour for the evening dinner and, once more, for going to lunch.
Once arrived at the base of that pillar, you will be directed to the elevator which is pretty creepy but if you arrive safe up there than it is fine.
The view over Bratislava is magnificent from up there. I think it is better to go there in the day time than the evening, even if the lights of the town have their magic...but you have a better view and understanding of the town and its surroundings during the day time.
They have a very nice drinks menu and the bartender is really good in preparing cocktails; I fully enjoyed my Sazerac. The local wines are worth to try as well during lunch/dinner.
We decided to try the 3 and 4 courses "degustation de dejeuner" and we did not regret it. The full army of people in the kitchen did a magnificent job. The presentation, the flavors, the variety of types of meat made our day.
The waiters have to be mentioned here because their attitude and performance is at high level.
One good part is that all the prices are available online and you can check if this try fits to your lunch/dinner calculations or not.
One over the other, we enjoyed our lunch there and we fully recommend it.

The food and drink in Bratislava (especially when visiting from Dublin) is so cheap. It's probably one of the cheapest places to eat/drink next to Krakow!
The UFO restaurant is pricey to say the least but you get EVERYTHING that you're paying for and that includes the view of the city and Bratislava castle when it's lit up at night time.
Highly recommend booking a meal for two here, at night time when you know it's gonna be dark so you can get all them city views!
Treat yourself as a once off!! The rest of your stay in Bratislava will be cheap.
The food was beyond exceptional.
I had the beef truffle and it was mouth watering.
The dining experience here was so romantic. The tables aren't on top of each other so you have your own privacy with your candle lit dinner.
The lights are dimmed and you're left to enjoy your meal in peace.
Getting to/from the restaurant was also pretty cool as you get an elevator from the bridge below, which shoots up to the restaurant inside one of the legs of the UFO structure.
Also, before our meal we got to go up to the rooftop to take in the views. We were freezing up there!! But it didnt matter.
It gave us some laughs before our meal.
The views up here are ENDLESS!
Even each cubicle in the toilet has a glass wall so you can enjoy the view. You can't make this stuff up haha!

My wife and I had an amazing experience at UFO. The view is spectacular (we were seated just before sunset and this added to the experience). We had reservations so our journey to the top of the UFO was free. The elevator is not huge, but it was not as claustrophobic as we were lead to believe (we were the only two in the elevator both going up and down) . We were a bit early, so we spent time on the observation deck above the restaurant taking in the view. The restaurant did not rotate while we were there, but our table overlooked the bridge with Bratislava in the background.
We ordered off the menu and selected a bottle of Slovakian Cabernet. First up was an amuse bouche which contained lamb brain. We shared a foie gras starter with baked onion ice cream. It was very good (though very rich). My wife had the wasabi gnocchi which was a large serving of food and I had the venison loin. Both were outstanding. For dessert we had what appeared to be a creme brule type desert. The clear sugar coating was covered with bits of fruit and flowers. It was spectacular. I can't describe how bright and wonderful it was. I commented that it tasted like Fruit Loops for adults. An amazing ending to a wonderful meal.
I have seen previous reviews complaining about the staff. The staff was amazing. They all spoke flawless English and were attentive and very nice. My wife left her sunglasses on the table, and a member of staff returned them to her on the observation deck after dinner. We had a brief conversation with him (he had lived and worked in the US for four years). I did not have any bad interactions with staff.
I believe that our bill was around $200. For the quality of the food and wine as well as the location, this felt like good value to us.
Unfortunately, my food photos are dark and do not do justice to the meal.

Ok, the good, great view, nice food.
The bad, overly priced and due to the blue light they used throughout the restaurant it looks more ike a club or a bar. And all the food looks disgusting because of the blue light (everything turns brownish grey) not stimulating the appetite. The owner should really do something about this

Second to none! The food, the view, the service… amazing, 3 ladies visiting Bratislava out for dinner with a difference, our handbags were given their own stool.
Food was stunning, beef that melted like butter. The view is amazing so go before sunset.
Only criticism was 7€ for water per bottle. Dinner cost was what you’d expect for food of that level. Michelin Star quality.
If you like good food and don’t think a 100€ is outrageous for an amazing night out that is unique as rare then not to be missed!

Amazing food and view ! And, amazing service and waiters ! (Mainly our waiter this night, always smiling, patient, respectful even if we were not locals neither slovak speakers).
Honestly I was afraid to pay a lot for nothing because in places like that you pay more the view or the location than the food. But ! I was definitely not disappointed, and I come from a family of Chef, so trust me I have experienced a lot of gastronomic cuisine and restaurants.
The meals were delicious and visually beautiful. Yes, it's pricy but it's worth it.
The only (- ) is the light, which is quite low and blue so it's tiring for the eyes and you cannot fully enjoy the beauty of the plates.
And perhaps the cockails could be a little bit more tasteful.
But thank you ! I will come back for a romantic night or a celebration !

I went here with my girlfriend and son. We sat at the part of the bar away from the restaurant. I spent 35 Euros on 4 drinks and an ice cream. The view was great. The problem was this part of the restaurant away from the tables doesnt get good service. I collected our own menus while the staff congregated on the other side by the set tables. I went there again to ask for the bill. I had already spent 30 Euros to go up to this restaurant and simply expected the staff to be more attentive. It wasnt busy.

6 adults went to the UFO looked out over Bratislava and then we thought we go to the bar and have a drink, possibly eat.
We sat down and with one of the group suffering with an injury stood at a table with another person while the pain subsided to sit down. The waitress immediately told us to sit down and where to sit. Didn't ask or position this so it would benefit other customers.
I think you have to pay extra for a smile, service was poor and unwelcoming.
Beer was good although one of the most expensive in town. We didn't eat has with the experience at the bar we felt it was not worth it.
Shocking really a smile would have changed everything

We were there on Saturday. It was really crowded, since there was a lot of people seeing the view from the above. The restaurant was almost empty, we planned to eat there, but after the drinks.
The waiters and the manager were all nervous and overwrought. The manager had to clean around the only free table, because some girl broke the bottles when leaving. He was annoyed because we were with the children who wanted to sit on the chairs, because we were waiting someone to clean it for a few minutes. We were annoyed with their nervousness.
We drank a beer, a cappuccino and an pineapple juice around 4.45 p.m. and decided not to eat there.
Three times I waved for someone to come. We didn't get the invoice, 10 minutes we waited for someone to come, so we can pay and leave, because the atmosphere was awful. Then I got up (some guys wanted our table), and sat on the bar chair and waited 10 minutes more.
EDIT: Their Marketing Manager contacted us, which we consider a great effort, even though it was my mistake concerning the amount charged and first review was made with that in mind.
The view from the restaurant was great. Maybe the food would be great too, if they made us feel welcome. But they didn't.
Please, be more tolerant to couples with kids. It's not their fault because someone else broke the bottles/glasses. For sure, they didn't.
Our kids were not rude to any one of you.
They were sitting and talking, they didn't make other guests uncomfortable, they didn't run around the tables, they didn't yell...
Because of the Marketing Manager kindness and effort, we plan to come back - the food seems delicious.
