Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So I dined here one evening and all staff were female and I was made to feel very welcome as a solo, the chicken burger was excellent, tasty, big portion and great value with a beer costing me only 13 euros. Service was greet and atmosphere inside was too. Not the biggest of venues but they also have outside seating.
It was that good I went back the night after and the staff were all male, I sat at a round tall table and after 5 minutes a gentleman came over and asked me to leave as it was reserved and no other table are free, they are all reserved. The reserved sign consisted of a small piece of paper at the side of the table (not on it) with green highlighter writing. Based on this I never went back the following nights and ate elsewhere. They didn't make me feel welcome nor offer any alternative, not even suggesting outside to me. A real shame because the food was superb and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it but I suggest reserving a table.

I was told about this place from a local tour guide when I asked about trying the traditional garlic soup in a bread roll.
I was blown away by how good it was. It place itself is on a Main Street and easy to find, we visited in low season so not too busy but by the time we finished it was starting to get busy.
Overall the soup was the highlight. The only reason for not giving full marks it because my son aged 6 wanted some fries. These were charged at €7 which I felt was too much. But it is what it is.

Bar 17 has been my favorite place to hang out with friends for many years. An indescribable atmosphere reigns here, which every local and every tourist should experience.
The bar has a great location - the bar is located in the city center, in the very heart of Bratislava. From there, many attractions of the city are within easy reach.
The establishment has a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, I recommend "fruit beer". This is one hundred percent the best beer I have ever tried. In addition, the bar also offers refreshments in the form of pizza, hamburgers and other snacks.
The staff here is also very friendly and welcoming. We try to process orders quickly, thank you to the staff. However, it often happens that there are no places in the establishment. I would recommend putting a few more tables and chairs on the summer terrace so that even more people come to this wonderful place.

This is just a really good bar, day or night, inside or out, with loads of different beers of all kinds of shapes, ages, colours, nationality, strength. And the whiskey range is top notch too. The pizzas are great but make sure you're not too late to make a food order, they're very strict clock watchers.

Situated near Bratislava's core city center, this bar is a perfect place to have snacks or drinks while making a pause with strolling around beautiful Slovakia's capital. The bar offers variety of food and drinks and the prices are quite reasonable, having in mind its location. If you want to spend some quality time with your friends, then this is the right place for you!

I arrived in Bratislava from Dublin on Wednesday night late. The nearest bar was no 17s. The sign on the entrance said open until midnight. I entered at 11.20 and was told “finished” . Ok, I left but undeterred I went back early the following evening and ordered a pint of beer. I handed in my card and was abruptly told “no card cash”. I then handed over a ten euro note for a pint costing 3.10 and the barman then moaned that he had to count change out for me and asked did I not have change )they appeared not to have a basic cash register with change!
For pure convenience I went back there twice more and I never felt more unwelcome. There are six barstools along the bar but if you sit at one of them the bar staff will do everything possible to avoid eye contact with you. For perspective, I am a mature beer drinker in my early 60s and I doubt if I look like a trouble maker, so I am puzzled by this approach to a paying customer- perhaps they don’t like tourists. It’s a pity because it’s a nice little bar with potential.

Sometimes you just need a good pizza or burger and beer, and a little break from all the amazing (but VERY rich) traditional food. We really liked the margherita pizza and BIG mug of beer we had for dinner, and if you can grab a table in the shade under the trees, all the better. A very decent sized pie and two large beers was about €15. Hard to beat.

Our visit to 17s bar was nothing short of excellent. After stumbling upon it accidentally we had what could only be described as the most phenomenal service, food and drinks. The food was next level local cuisine with international options available. All was reasonably priced and the intimate atmosphere was like nothing else we had found. I would recommend to anyone! We will definitely be returning.

Found this place on our last night (typical)
We had been paying between €48 & €52 for two meals and drinks at restaurants just a few streets away.
Our meals and drinks at the 17s bar came to €28, and were delicious.
I had a Cheeseburger & Chips. She had a Chicken Burger & Chips.
The beef was proper minced beef and the Chicken was a real Chicken breast, not minced.
The barbecue sauce was smokey and delicious, and the fries were skin-on, home made looking.
Quick service. Would highly recommend 👌

Sought out this bar when needing somewhere for a drink and some decent food for a brief stopover in Bratislava, and having read reviews on this site. It certainly didn't disappoint. The garlic soup in bread was delicious and arrived in good time. That and a couple of Slovakian beers made it the ideal place to visit.

Our free walking tour guide recommended this place for garlic soup. It is the best garlic soup in town!! The soup itself was delicious and the bread (where it is served in) was wonderfully toasted and tasty. It is not a real local restaurant, but the garlic soup is the best of Bratislava!

We were recommended 17's Bar by a number of friends who had previously visited and it did not disappoint. The place had a really cool vibe and the family was amazing. I had their famous garlic soup in bread and it was one of the greatest things I ever tasted. Just make sure you take a tonne of mints with you for afters or your travelling companions may complain about the smell of your breathe. Highly recommend.

Nice beers but don’t get fooled by the waiters. The fries are not freshly cut. They will lie in your face without even blinking. They can be in the top 10 of the potatoes are fresh… such a pity… Better go somewhere else.

We encountered this pub by mistake and we came back for 3 consecutive days during our stay. The beer was very good, diverse and at a good price. The food was tasty, we tried the garlic soup, burgers, fries and the chocolate cake

It is a pub that offers also food. They have many plates (pizza, burgers) but the food is not so good. The first time i ordered i burger but the meat was a bit burnt and very salty. The second time i ordered a pizza, it was better but nothing special. The advantage is that they have a variety of beers. The big disadvantage is that they accepted only cash and no one informs you at the beginning.

Thank you for your visit. Currently, no law in Slovakia requires restaurants to accept credit cards so it’s up to our decision and we have decided not to due to many reasons. That is why it’s STATED ON THE FIRST PAGE OF OUR MENU IN BOLD RED CAPITAL LETTERS. Also, it’s stated on Google as well.
Regarding the food we are sorry about your experience but you should have said the waiter you were not satisfied as they could have done something about it.
