Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The eating establishment, which advertises itself at the entrance as 'One of the biggest Restaurants in Europe' is really huge, but it also has a beautiful interior with a rich history, as explained in the menu card: from Monastery of the Merciful Brothers to Healthcare...Center to Cinema and finally in 2009 to what it is now. From the customers I could see that the restaurant must be recommended in several Asian guidebooks. There is more than one level and the tables are generally quite big with chairs for 6 or 8, thus not ideal for a single person like me. I was seated at a long table with already two other customers. Luckily an excellent waiter was in charge, who despite the huge area with many guests was always passing by to find out if everything was okay. In the menu card are many Slovak dishes, all the ones with Bryndza cheese in it, but also other Central European plates like Goulash and Wiener Schnitzel. My choice was a 'Pecené Kacacie', a roasted Duckleg, that came with stewed Red Cabbage and Loksha, that very Slovak pancake with potato flour. I liked it all, although the Loksha, which I had here for the first time, was a bit chewy and didn't taste very much of potato for me, since apparently also regular flour gets mixed in it. The food came surprisingly fast and there was already salt and pepper on the table. For dessert I got to know two other Slovak specialities. Together with an espresso I had a Bratislava Rozteky, also known in German as Pressburg Kipferl, with the choice of a walnut or poppy seed filling inside the crescent shaped roll of yeastened dough, brushed on top with egg yolk. I also got to taste a Preshporska Medovina (a Pressburg Mead or Honey Wine), which I also quite liked, since it was not too sweet. In comparison to other restaurants I had been to in Bratislava the prices here are quite reasonable. I liked the evening here, although as a single person one feels a bit lost in this enormous place, also the noise level is understandably quite high. On the way out I had a glimpse at the attached brewery, which is open to have a look at.More

A great restaurant to go to in Bratislava. A huge place with a great atmosphere. You still felt like you were just with your group, even though there’s lots of people around you. A super selection of local dishes to try, and really friendly and...quick service. Had a nice bit of history to it too.More

I missed visiting this restaurant on my previous stay in April and was so exited the opportunity to come here with my mum. We had no reservation and were treated very coldly by the colleague who managed sitting. I kind of understood it (at the...end of the day they are very popular and we are just couple of their daily tourists crowd) and the queue did move quickly. Much quicker than everything else that followed. The service was super slow. The huge space was covered by few waiters, struggling to give any attention to the guests. The food was good, but not particularly warm when delivered to the table. After all that waiting you kind of fulling yourself it because the preparation just done for order. But then it takes so long between the kitchen and the table… When we paid the bill the guy was not even bothered with the change.. collected the money and went on serving other table, completely blindsiding us… I do not hold anything against colleagues working there, it is very common nowadays for management to save budget money on personnel and their training. Unfortunately the quality of guests experience is declining. Overall i would not come back. Will look for smaller restaurant with more attention to the details and the guests.More

There was a bit of a queue to go inside but we didn't have to wait for too long. Even though the restaurant was full we got our food served very quickly, the staff was friendly and it's been very tasty

We visited this restaurant on the national day, the food was really good and beers were really great too, the prices were really honest. The only thing I did not like it was the waiting staff saying that the service is not included

Massive portion sizes, brilliant to share between you, very authentic food and surroundings. Service to be seated slow and rude. But the food makes up for it

A Slovak friend recommended this restaurant for its typical dishes and traditional ambiance. It was our last night in Bratislava, and we wanted to dine in a local place with local people and featuring local dishes. The setting was simple, with quite stolid dark wood...tables and chairs, a no muss, no fuss sort of thing that we appreciated. Although it was early for supper, the place was already crowded, and some of the diners were pretty boisterous. We wandered a bit and soon found a quiet nook to enjoy our dinner. Looking at the menu, we both chose pierogies, in my case something I fondly remembered my grandmother making by hand for special family occasions. Here, you order whatever quantity you'd like. We each ordered three, more than enough, given how deliciously filling they were. Service was good, and we enjoyed seeing all the local families come in for dinner, many of them with small children. For me, it waslike a trip back in time, when we all around the table enjoying Grandma's home-cooking. It was a real pleasure to eat here.More

This is a beautiful restaurant on the inside. we had a wonderful traditional meal here, pork and sauerkraut, the sausage and sauerkraut, and their national dish which was fantastic. They brew their own beer here and it was really good and light with high flavor....Our server understood some English and was attentive to our needs and understanding English was our primary language. I would highly recommend this place for dinner and lunch. And I would say to go back more than to try other dishes. We did it family style so we could all try different things.More

The staff here were rude, dismissive and a total shock compared to other restaurants in Bratislava. After being ignored for some time, dismissed once I finally got a waiters attention, I eventually left without being served. Although popular, I do not recommend this place at...all and suggest looking elsewhere for local food.More

They don't take any bookings on line between about 7 and 9. We popped in however, and they did kindly reserve us a table to come back to later that evening, so it's worth a try.
