This restaurant is superb, very welcoming from the minute you enter. We had the 5 course taster menu with different wines for each course, best food you will get In Bratislava. The waiting staff were attentive and gave us some history about the wines were...drinking, they know their stuff. The atmosphere was great, ideal for a romantic dinner for two. All the staff spoke English which was great. If you are in Bratislava take a visit to this place, you will not be disappointed. Thanks to all the staff for a amazing nightMore

With its immaculate white walls matched by equally white mantles, one is immediately captured by this restaurant. Greeted by its maitre d’, we thought nothing would go wrong. Well, we found out that they have no fish in the menu. As I do not eat...meat or poultry, there was nothing for me. So we settled for the celery soup and the trout appetizer. Both were excellent. The bread helped, of course. The evening was saved by the sommelier who was very gracious and helpful. He went though the wine list and then had us settle on his personal choice: a 2009 Prestige Oak Wood Cabernet Sauvignon from the Matysak winery. We were the only guest that evening which was capped with a small bottle of port wine for me and a red rose for my wife.More

In the past 10 to 12 years my passion for food developed into my favourite hobby. Going out to dine at least twice a month has become a ritual. Even when we go abroad, the first thing that I look for is a restaurant, book...a table and then continue with the booking of flights and hotels. This December we visited Bratislava for the first time and I was lucky enough to stumble upon ‘Globo Restaurant & Wine Bar’. My main source of research when we go on a holiday is ‘Tripadvisor’ and this place was highly rated, and rightly so! We booked a table at this Restaurant on a Saturday evening and as our Hotel was in the ‘Old Town’ it was just a minute walk away, which is very convenient for whoever is staying in one of the many Hotels in the ‘Old Town’. As soon as we walked in we were attended to by Dominik the manager, and immediately one could feel that the evening was going to turn out as an amazing experience. The place and décor were so welcoming, the subtle music in the background, the comfort of the chairs and the size of the table were spot on. The Menu (which changes frequently) consists of 2 five course tasting menus to which one could add wine pairing, either with a choice of Slovak wines from the ‘Matysak Estates’ or fine wines from all over the world. One could also order ‘A la Carte’ from the items available on the tasting menus. We ordered a different tasting menu each with a ‘Matysak’ wine pairing, so like this we could taste Slovak wines for the first time and all the items on the menu! :) From now on we were treated to a culinary experience of the highest level. The service of Dominik’s staff was impeccable and the detail to the description of every course and every wine served showed the professionalism of all the team. I will post pictures of our dinner, as words cannot describe the combination of flavours in each and every course. I also have to compliment ‘Matysak Wines’ for the high standard of each and every wine which was served to us during the meal, from the sparkling aperitif to the fantastic Ice Wine. We finished the evening with a ‘Matysak’ 20 year old Brandy……….WOW!! One must visit this place to understand what I mean. I must say that after visiting numerous restaurants in my country and abroad in the last decade, ‘Globo Restaurant & Wine Bar’ definitely rates as one of the top 3! P.S. Michelin please note !!!More

It was not my first time in this restaurant. I am based in Bratislava and have very often guests from all over the world. This is a place where I can always rely on the highest level of quality - food, wine and especially service!...Dinner always starts with homemade Slovak bread - once you taste no other bread will be good enough for you. They have two menus - which changes very often. If you are not so hungry you can choose just for one or two course. I definitely recommend to try mushrooms soup and a duck - both of them from local sources and delicious!!!More

We were really pleased to find that there were 2 choices for the taster menu and you can choose whether you want no/local worldwide wine pairings. We chose the local wines and were happy with that. The food looked amazing. We filled up on bread...whilst we ate as the portions were fairly small. The other half didn't like 2 of his 5 courses but I did because I'm not fussy.More

I visited Slovakia on multiple occasions as a child when I travelled here often for my winter sport’s camps. My found childhood memories involve one of the signature Slovakian dishes – fried cheese with French fries and some tartare sauce. I haven’t visited Slovakia since...I moved to the UK 16 years ago and lots has changed – many trendy eateries and wine bars emerged offering the best of local and international cuisine. I came across a newly opened ‘Globo Restaurant and Wine Bar’ which prides itself in being: ‘an ideal place for memorable experiences’ and I decided to put this claim to test. We visited the restaurant for a dinner on the second night of our stay in Bratislava. Location: Globo Restaurant and Wine Bar is perfectly located in Hlavné námestie – Bratislava’s main, historic square with charming old buildings and a small fountain. It can be easily reachable by bus, tram or taxi. Atmosphere: The decoration of Globo Restaurant and Wine Bar is modern and elegant. Tables were softly decorated with some fresh flowers. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and were well looked after by our waiter and sommelier. The menu: The restaurant is managed by Dominik Baranek who worked in the well-known Savoy hotel in London. What’s more the kitchen is run by a renowned chef Branislav Križan who’s been recognised as a Vice President of the Slovak Association of Chefs and Confectioners in addition to being a Captain of the Slovak National Team of Chefs and Confectioners. His team includes professional and knowledgeable waiters and friendly sommeliers. Globo Restaurant and Wine Bar offers 2 testing menus which are prepared mainly from local, fresh bio quality ingredients and it changes seasonally. If you enjoy quality wine, then you will have a plenty of choice as the restaurant offers over 150 types of local and foreign wines. In addition, diners have an opportunity to select a pairing of wines that have been carefully chosen to harmonize with the flavours of each course. We wanted to experience something new, so we decided to try some traditional Slovakian wines which were remarkable. We also found out that they won many prestigious awards at the wine festivals in France. To start with I had some tomato, goat cheese, basil oil whilst my husband had a dish based on 5 textures of cucumber. Both dishes were all mouth-watering. Secondly, I had some cream of Kohlrabi, Croquette with Blue Cheese which was enjoyable. My husband had some cream of roasted tomatoes with ricotta and it was divine. Thirdly, I received some fresh fish from the market accompanied by zucchini, teriyaki and sesame seeds. It was definitely my favourite dish which was simply outstanding! My husband had some scallops with carrots and fennel which he enjoyed. Moving on, I had a Veal Cheek accompanied by duck liver, celery, carrot, truffle whilst my husband had venison tenderloin with some sweetbread, pak choi and cauliflower. As a final temptation, we received our desserts. I had a dessert based on different textures of raspberries with chocolate whilst James’s dessert was based on lemon, orange and yuzu. As I have a very bad sweet-tooth, I’ve tried them both and they were simply delectable. Overall experience: Globo Restaurant and Wine Bar exceeded my expectation and passed its test on being an ideal place for memorable experiences. We eat out at least twice a week and travel all over the world so I can truthfully say that this was one of the best meals we’ve had this year and I would recommend anyone to visit this charming restaurant. Our food was beautifully presented and flavoursome whilst all wines we’ve tried throughout the evening were full of aromas and nicely complemented our dishes. Our table was attended to by welcoming and knowledgeable waiting staff. To summarise, it was a perfect meal in a picture-perfect location so I would definitely visit it again when I am back in Bratislava.More
