This restaurant is worth going to for the ambiance, the music and the insight it gives you into Jewish culture alone (if like me you have had limited prior exposure). The food was good but not excellent: To start, I had goose & dumpling clear soup which was OK though the dumpling was not warm on the inside. For dinner... More

Great vibe, great servers, great food, and great price! I usually don't like to visit same place when I travel, but went back to this place for dinner on the next day.

My dinner in Spinoza Cafe was fantastic. I enjoyed three plates: Goulash Soup was incredible, goose with dumplings was spectacular and Flodni (a dessert) was a discovery. The atmosphere was also outstanding with live piano music that inspired my dinner and conversation. I recommend the place all in all. Make a reservation since it is hard to get a table,... More

This restaurant has a little theatre attached to it and as we knew they had a Klezmer show we booked it. We could have just booked to see the show, but as we had to eat somewhere we booked the package. The Klezmer band were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter, Thomas, as lovely and really attentive but not... More

Beautiful little cafe/restaurant with very tasty traditional Hungarian food, good service (attentive when they need to be and they leave you alone for the rest of the time) and live music from someone playing the piano in the corner. We booked there after reading recommendations in our travel book

Visited this restaurant twice during our 5 night stay in Budapest. Lovely traditional Hungarian restaurant. Fab service and food. Very much enjoyed the pianist who played both evenings we were there.

While in Budapest for the Christmas markets we had trouble trying to find a good restaurant at short notice (a lot of places were fully booked). We were lucky that had a cancellation and we had a very good meal in this restaurant with friendly staff. The clientele were mainly Jewish families & couples enjoying the live music which they... First of all, the warm welcome from the wait staff was very pleasant and right away made us feel comfortable and happy to be there. We were waited on by Thomas who was cordial and very helpful, providing us good suggestions based on what we wanted and also suggesting wine pairings based on our order. When we insisted on something... More

Very polite waiter, helped me choose a nice wine & adorable pianist playing throughout our meal. Not too expensive and good portion sizes.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
