First we waited for 30 minutes at table before anyone noticed us. After that, finally we got "served" by drunk host which didnt know a single english word. He just putted label "reserve" after few minutes and show us that we need to leave. After more than 30 minutes sitting and waiting.... They could put label at start or told... More

We visited Fatal because there are several vegetarian options on the menu - pretty rare in Budapest - and it didn't disappoint! We had three starters between four and were already pretty full when we had eaten them. The main courses were also enormous, and delicious. The mushroom goulash went down particularly well. The stuffed cabbage (not veggie) was also... More

I really enjoyed eating with my family in this underground restaurant!Huge portions and if you like garlic and paprika then this is your place! We had two great soups, one salad and two huge main dishes along with two soft drinks and mineral water and we paid about 42 euro.Have lunch there and you won't even feel the need for dinner!

We have a flat a few doors away from this restaurant and decided to give it a try, as it was frequented by the man who owned our flat before. I ordered the pork escalope with crushed potatoes. The meat arrived on a huge bed of fries and a pile of vegetable rice in addition to the crushed potatoes! The... More

Despite the fact that this location is overcrowded (in some cases you have to wait about an hour), i am still very happy with my visit to Fatal. Exceptional meat dishes, good beer. Looking forward to come back again next time!

As soon as you descend the steep steps to this cellar restaurant, you smell the aromas and just know you will be well fed. We were not disappointed. Could not finish the large platefuls of tasty Hungarian dishes, all at reasonable prices. Enjoyed it so much that we took some Hungarian friends back there 2 days later. Well satisfied once... More

This place has the most insane portion sizes! But is great for some good quality Hungarian food! The service people were super polite and very friendly, they were also flexible about swapping some stuff out on the menu which was great. The only negative I have is that we ordered some polenka and they served us doubles without saying which... More

Fatal is really two restaurants - in summer their premises on the main Vaci Street are cool and cheerful, while in winter you are better off using their nearby cellar in Pinter Utca, just across the alleyway. Friendly staff usher you down into a vaulted interior with traditional oak benches and a huge menu. An English version is available, and... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
