If you find Potkulcs you will love it. Look for a gate in the street, which goes into a garden, there is no sign. It is very laid back and the beer was the best we had in Budapest. We went there twice and on the second visit there was a live band.

I was here many many times with my Love and my friends. This is one of the best pub in Budapest! The bartenders are always kind and helpful. I like this place also in spring and summer, because it has got a big teracce. There are always live music, too. You can always meet here with foreign people. I recommend... More

By chance this was the first Ruin Bar we visited in Budapest, so took us a bit by surprise! Mainly an older, locals place. Lots of line dancing and so forth. Interesting experience but not what I expected!

We got here early and became the 3rd and 4th customers. It was dead. It's a bit out of the way from the other popular bars further south and has a completely unmarked entrance. The main room with the bar is comfortable in a faded way. Slightly ratty table cloths and mismatched chairs. We took a seat and I was... More

It's a fantastic place for folk music lovers! I was there yesterday evening, the band played traditional hungarian folk music, and as the night went on,more musicians arrived, and were joining them. They ended up with 3 "primas"(lead violin),two "kontras"(viola)plus the bass player. Furious the dancers were on the dancfloor,we saw real dancers this time, and the girls were amazing too! I'd like... More

I usually go here to meet friends for a drink or two. The place has a nice atmosphere is summer, you feel like home in the garden. It looks like the perfect place to read a book in the afternoon and then meet friends in the evening. In winter I don't go there so often, but definitely a great choice... More

Great great music. Definitely check it out! Not like the other ruin bars, as they have really fantastic music (i'd like to say all the time, but I actually can't be sure..)

Potkulcs is for those who want to go somewhere where you get the feeling that several of the guests are regulars, you hear more Hungarian than English and you want to run the chance to run into a nice live concert - and you don't care if it is Hungarian folk, jazz or rock. You can eat something but you... More
