We visited here 3 times on our recent trip to Budapest. Once just to enjoy a nice bottle of wine, once for cocktails before a meal elsewhere and the last time for coffee and cake. We really liked it here and the last two times...More

We visited this place in the afternoon, both of us ordered a cup of coffee, a slice of cake and asked for a glass of tap water as well. The coffee and cake were served in a timely manner however the waitress did not bring...More

Overall this place was just okay. The food was pretty average, not well seasoned, very small unimaginative menu and bland. The interiors of this restaurant are beautiful. Worth just going in and taking a look. But don't bother eating here. The service is terrible. Very...More

A historic café with elegant décor to enjoy the old charm. I went there for lunch and it was very busy but one could enjoy the live music there. The food was traditional and the cake was not to be missed.

In a country not known for pleasant service this place takes the cake. We ordered elderflower lemonades, they make the liquor there, behind the bar, they say. Sooo why not add it to the drinks? After a struggle, the woman bartender admits she did not...More

A classic old style cafe. We had lunch there, tea and cake and drinks so it covers all bases in a wonderful, relaxed setting. Good customer service too.

Good “Opera” cake and nice jasmin tea! That’s what I had at Central. Both were good and attendants were aptly attentive ! But once they served me they didn’t come close to me again. There is a space to write down your own poem which...More

Well the decor says it all - art deco at its finest. What a lovely lovely place to spend some time, I just wish it had been more busy. It was a Friday night, and was disappointed that this place was not bursting. The food...More

Description
Respecting the traditions and being open to novelty. That describes Central Café the best. We are proud of our ancestors and we know the challenges of today. Rather than evoking the past we would like to revive the mentality that once made this place one of the intellectual centres of Budapest. And we want to achieve this with your help. We can only provide the "scenery", the delicate ambience, the delicious meals, the delightful desserts or refreshing drinks, the atmosphere is created by you. All of you who visit us for a cup of coffee in the morning, for a lunch at noon, for a glass of wine before going to the theater, for a light dinner after it or perhaps participate in one of our events as creative audience.
