Recommended by a friend. We saw lots of reserved tables so it's probably worthwhile booking in advance. The goulash and the pork loin in paprika sauce were both delicious. Service was excellent (waitress was happy to explain the dishes to us) and the price was great. Starters + mains + shared dessert + glass of wine each for two came... More

Already been there 3 times and I totally recommend it. Whatever I have eaten there is special and delicious. I would totally recommend the goulash soup, pork knuckle, beef stew and Grandma's Gnocchi. You should also try some Hungarian wine, it's really nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. If you cannot decide what to eat or drink, ask for their... More

It's a restaurant that you have to visit when in Budapest. It's very small and cosy so it's very important to book in advance. The food what fresh and delicious and everybody was kind and pleasant. There was live relaxing music. Everythink was great. Delicious goulash soup!!

First thing you notice in this restaurant is the way they treat you.. They take really good care of you. Explained the dishes.. Gave a tablet with pictures to see how the food looks like.. They gave toys to play with for my son.. Which is a super gesture..makes me wonder why hasn't anyone thought about such ideas.. Served us... More

Another person on this site described it as "unpretentious food" and that is so true (in the best way possible)!! My sister and I didn't want to overstuff ourselves but we were aching to try some true and unpretentious Hungarian cuisine. We walked here right after seeing the Basilica and the restaurant smelled delicious from the moment we got there.... More

What a great, not to be missed. Delicious traditional Hungarian food with an updated twist. Great service and a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant is small, I strongly recommend reservations.

This place is not that easy to get into without a reservation. We were staying just down the street in a VRBO apartment, and had read in Rick Steeves guide book that this was one of his favorites in our area, so we decided to try it out. The first night we discovered that we would have to wait for... More

Typical Hungarian Restaurant located close the Parliament and Saint Stephen Cathedral, Hungarian style furnished has few tables, therefore without reservation is very hard to have a dinner. The ingredients are of excellent quality. The meat was so tender, but cooked (I suppose) in the hungarian manner, with little gravy (the pork shinbone dry). Thus I didn't like their taste. The... Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
