We had a very nice lunch at a sidewalk table at the Polo Pub today. The waiter & waitress both spoke fluent English and they had English menu's. Service was excellent. I had Hungarian goulash and my wife had baked sausage. Both were very nice and very reasonably priced. The location is a little off the beaten path for tourists... More

Walking in and you know your in a proper pub with an all wood interior and great beer enamel's and beer poster's plastered all over the pub. We were greeted warmly by the staff were we opted to... This place looked so nice when we dropped in, so we decided to have a dinner here. Recommendations were good, so we gave an order. I took Goulash- soup. Oh what a disappointment it was. Tasteless, watery soup with just a few cubes of meat. Three stars? Yes, the service was good, also the atmosphere of the place. And beer... More

A traditional Budapest pub serving hearty simple dishes, local beer and wine. The place was packed early in the evening and my Hungarian colleague had booked a table and pre ordered the braised, smoked ham hock! This is the signature dish of the pub. The hospitality and service were warm. most welcome on a freezing January evening. English is spoken... More

They advertise the place as an original English pub but they to not have anything English there - no English beers, no English food, etc. The food was maybe good 20 years ago, now only the "csülök" is worth the price but this fat meal is not for everyone... Many people visit this place only for the memories and the... More

This place is worth a short taxi ride from Pest. It is filled with locals who know good food and drink. Very vibrant atmosphere. Try the pork knuckle. It is one of the best in Budapest. Stuffed cabbage is done in the old traditional style

Description
The Polo Pub opened in 1990. After many years, wandering around the World, the owner fell in love with the atmosphere of the English pubs. Drived by this magical feeling, he founded the Polo Pub, with the atmosphere he was always in love with.

Our aim is to provide wide range of quality and unique beers, combining these with the finest and oldest local recipies and meals.

This place will be perfect for you, if you wish to enjoy an Irish style pub, far away from it's origins, but boosted with local specialities.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
