If you are looking for one place which has great Hungarian food with good prices so note the name down: Drum Cafe! We chose both gulash classic and gulash with beans as beginner. Then we got chicken breast paprika with Hungarian noodle and classic langos. All of them was amazing and we paid at around 12 euro for two (price... More

Travelling across Europe, I had one of the best meals I had in this restaurant. They offer traditional Hungarian food, with set menus such as a hearty 3 course meal including beef goulash, goulash stew and rice and cake of hungry (delicious and warming) for 1990 HUF (£6/7). The restaurant is very chilled and relaxed environment with friendly waiters who... More

We got there by accident while walking nearby and looking for local food, especially langosh. Contrary to appearances, finding a typical Hungarian dish that is langosh in Budapest is almost impossible. Here they serve langosh in many ways, in very very reasonable prices for Budapest, which unfortunately does not have a lot of cheap places to eat. Decor very atmospheric,... More

Had an excellent value meal one evening after a boat trip on the Danube. Had two main meals plus drinks and the TOTAL BILL came to £8.90! The food was good too. True the place is small, busy and the menu has photos but if I am in Budapest again I will look this place up and recommend it to... More

Absolutely amazed by the food and service of Drum Cafe. Me and my girlfriend decided to have lunch in a non pretentious cheap restaurant without having any big expectations. They left us totally satisfied with an amazing traditional Hungarian dishes. Only thing we didn't like was the draft beer which was quite watery. Recommend it to anyone that is looking... More

On the search for our first Goulash, we came across Drum Cafe on Tripadvisor. A small but energetic place, with slightly confusing decor is apparent as soon as you open the front door. Obviously a popular place amongst locals and tourists alike. Given myself and girlfriend's appetite was fairly light we decided to order the *recommended cheese soup for a... More

Stumbled across this place when we went to visit the synagogue - really glad we did. Even with Trip Advisor one of the main problems with being a tourist is that you basically don't have a clue where anything is or if it's any good, so you generally end up in the some tourist hot spot where they'll likely over... Top place with grey food for the price. The goulash was outstanding. Would recommend in a heart beat to anyone as the place was made up of lots of different people which all helped with the cosy, warm atmosphere.

The place is really nice with good and tasty food. Everything is cheap and good. The service is brilliant. If you are for Hungarian food (or Langosh) go here

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
