It seems to be an authentic gypsy bar. Sadly, there is nothing romantic about it but you will get ripped off.

We needed a quick late-night dinner after a river cruise couple years ago. Other place were closing or were already closed and this one was really close to our hotel and still open. The food was below average. I guess we were luckier than the other reviewers, I think they just overcharged us for my husband's beer and added some... More

We sat down at one of the tables outside the restaurant, and was approached by one of the waiters, who could be best described as sleazy and very pushy. We were just a after one coffee and a water, but we pushed to try and buy food, to the point that even though we kept saying we did not want... More

We were approached outside the restaurant by a reasonably dressed man who invited us to to check the menu and told us they were a traditional Hungarian establishment with live music. We were taken downstairs to a secluded area where we were introduced to a "manager". There was another couple present so it didnt feel too bad. Other than this... More

When we visited Pertu Station, the manager tried to sell us a tourist special for four persons. We decided to go for a pasta, but one friend chose a "Greek" salad. All she got was a plate full of cucumber, paprika, tomato, hard old cheese. (no salad, let alone feta or olives.) We got a poor meal, OK but not... More

My husband and I chose this restaurant because it was close to the apartment we were staying in, and it offered a "Tourist Special." The doorman was very friendly and spoke very good English. We chose a table in the screened sidewalk area. The menu offered interesting choices, but some hand-written prices were hard to decipher. The doorman recommended a... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
