Nice little spot to stop, away from main tourist part at the top of the hill and right next to a water fountain, so you can top up your water bottle after a nice cold drink!

Food and environment was very good. The waiter was polite but during our meal it changed over to a new waiter who was exceptionally rude. We ordered a dessert of chocolate souffle to share between my friend and I. When it arrived, the waiter brought...More

Recommended by our Four Seasons concierge, Pest-Buda is an incredible bistro on the castle district - right up the street from Matthias Cathedral. It has a large outdoor terrace beneath canopies, and also indoor seating. We chose the terrace, which borders a small park -...More

Located in an iconic area of the city this restaurant might not be the cheapest eatery in the city but the quality of the food makes it excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

But does the one need to be such, despite Buda is really touristic? I blow the brains of my concierge, but his Google-driven mind could not produce nothing better but "21" or Pest-Buda which we attended for a lunch. Both places are kinda Michelin blessed...More

I’m not sure. I don’t own the bistro. I’m just a regular customer. Sorry can’t help much.

Pest-Buda doubles with Grandma’s homestyle Hungarian kitchen, using the best ingredients with love and care from our talented chef, Lajos Lutz . We only carry Hungarian wines rich with personality and like to highlight those special bottles that are the territory of true wine aficionados. Pest-Buda Bistro is on the ground floor of Pest-Buda Hotel, the oldest hotel in Hungary, originally opened in 1696. Pest-Buda is an important gastronomic institution honoring Grandma’s Hungarian kitchen for several decades. Together with Zsolt Litauszki we have worked for months to rediscover several Hungarian recipies and master the art of baking the perfect artisanal flamed pie. Chef Lajos Lutz is running a soulful kitchen devoted to Grandma’s Hungarian classics made with love and care. The combination of top-notch gastronomy and beautiful wines is both fresh and traditional without succumbing to typical Hungarian restaurant cliches. The whole experience is, of course, amplified by the Buda Castle’s stunning medieval setting. We only carry Hungarian wines and only those with a distinctive personality, reflective of a distinctive wine region. We feature several rare selections often not found anywhere else, and our extensive list is constantly changing. Pest-Buda is for You to enjoy 24 hours. Eat, drink, sleep… with love!
