I opted for one of the two tasting (degustation) menus and it was an amazing experience. Forward thinking food presentation, combinations and flavors and a great wine menu to pair it with, as well as fantastic service. I couldn't have butter so they gave me roasted garlic lard with my bread which I'm still dreaming about. The crispy barley (made... More

I like the service, first of all, always friendly and helpful. But I also have never been disappointed by the food and wine. Good atmosphere too, not too posh but not cheap either. Great place.

Visited the restaurant after recommendations and were overwhelmed! Got the pleasure of talking to the sommelier that had good knowledge. Was talked in to lovely Hungarian wines instead of the "safe cards" and we are not disappointed. The food was rejuvenating and the experience was above all expectations. Do not miss this place!

We were a family of 7, three generations. The interior is quite different from what you expect from the outside. A very nice and cool place where young as well as old people can enjoy a good meal. The staff was very attentative and friendly and in very good mood which made us all relax and enjoy the company and... More

Our second night in Budapest we ate at "21" and had a great waiter who recommended Mak Bistro. The next day we walked over and made a reservation. The man was very helpful fitting us in at 7pm, rather than our request for 8pm. What a delightful evening and dining experience we had. The chef surprises at the start and... More

Lovely place for a romantic meal or a meal with friends. The place is relaxed and modern with great food at a reasonable (more European\less local) price. I tried the current sampling menus of 6 course. One was a mystery, I like the idea of a surprise course, and there were also additional bits like an amuse bush and pre-dessert.... More

Excellent staff and relaxed environment and a very good meal to be honest but some of the combinations? Hmmm .... I didn't dislike anything but only genuinely liked a couple of courses. A restaurant of this calibre is bound to attract more challenging reviews but it is a fine establishment really and well worth a try if you're a "foodie".... More

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
