We were staying near by and went here because of the reviews on trip advisor. We were staying in January so everywhere seems to be really quiet anyway. There was only one other table eating so there was very little atmosphere. The food was reasonably priced and was okay. I haven't found the Hungarian food particularly exciting so wouldn't rave... The dollar... or the Euro... or the Pound... or any other major currency gives one quite a bang for the buck in Hungary - including Budapest. Basically any and all restaurants in Budapest are reasonably priced in comparison to their equivalents in more expensive cities. This said, BorLaBor gives an exceptional "bang for the buck" in terms of food, ambiance,... More

Second time I visited this place. Last time I was there, around a year ago, the food was delicious, the wine great and the atmosphere on point. I just went here again, and that was an absolute disappointment. We ordered a platter of Hungarian sausages and the like. The bread that was following the platter was moldy, which we discovered... Location and ambience is really promising so it could be a very nice place for wine tasting or eating out, but it's not. Service is poor slow and overplayed. Wine selection is limited and forgettable, food was cheap quality lacking any concept. Just putting sausages, ham and cottage cheese on the table doesn't mean you get Hungarian feeling. Spending there... More

We re-visited this restaurant after enjoying our last meal on our previous visit and was not disappointed. I had the Deer Stew with potato dumplings and it was delicious. The staff and service is excellent and will definately be back next time in Budapest.

This restaurant was recommended by Rick Steve's and as with any of his recommendations, you can't go wrong. Our waiter, Matthew was very attentive and suggested Hungarian wines for our tasting. We ordered an appetizer tray consisting of vegetables and meats, which was delicious. Our mains consisted of the Chicken Salad with Camembert and Pears. The Duck leg and Pork... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
