Very nice bistrot with great atmosphere and decor. As the name is suggesting food is from French influence with a focus on grilled beef. Good selection of wine and friendly service.

I have been to Deryne for many years because I like the setting, a nice atmosphere, music, great bar. The menu almost never changes so you cannot go too often. So for a change for my last dinner I decided to try a seafood platter. I asked to add 6 oysters to what was included in the platter. I think... More

Hello friend, thank you for dining with us! Just to be on the fair side, here is the exact content of our plateau de fruits de mer: large tiger shrimps, black or green mussels, cocktail shrimps - tail on, silky soft large octopus tentacles, baby octopuses, baby calamaries, fine de claire's oysters from the Marenne, France region, a tangy chimmichurri... The first thing that hit us about Bistro Deryne was the atmosphere. This a beautiful restaurant with food to match. Myself and my partner were booked in for a romantic meal and it didn't disappoint. Some people are saying it's a bit expensive but I found the prices very reasonable and fair. The food was fantastic and the staff were... More

Very disappointing, middle class food for high price, soup was cold, duck was chewy, waitress was impolite. Never again...

Dear reviewer, you may have the wrong restaurant..we do not serve duck breast on our menu, never have. We do have a confit duck leg however, famous for falling off the bone using just your fork. We confit it under duck fat for over 8 hours until the leg is so tender, it can only be moved carefully with a... More

We visited here in the evening after a session in the local Spa. It was pretty cold outside so the warmth of the welcome and the atmosphere was extra special. I really enjoyed the menu and the waiter spent some time taking us through each item whilst making his own recommendations based on what we indicated were our preferred tastes.... More

Foods here are simple great, so is their services. Even though the main course selections are not so many. I enjoyed my lunch a lot.

Great evening at Deryne. Extremly tasty food, good drinks but most surprisingly superbe service! Thank you Tamas for reconciling us with Deryne where we have been suffering from the service before. We'll be back!

In contrast to the perfect design, our experience was far from it. We were surprised and glad when we were generously offered a freshly squeezed beetroot juice or orange juice. An automatic gesture programmed to the moment we took seats. Our waiter suspiciously didn't mention that each glass has a price. We found it unfair, however after scrolling down the... More

Buda's oldest and largest landmark Bistro dating back to 1914, serving warm meals and light appetisers from early in the morning till late at night. Live jazz concerts, wine cellar, open fire place in several dining rooms. Large local bar scene. Kitchen open past midnight most nights. The on-site bakery serves the restaurant and a small artisan bread shop next door. More casual wine bar 'spicc' operated by Deryne just down the street.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
