The unexpected surprise

We had spotted this restaurant while walking in the Kazimierz district a few days earlier. Then, one evening we found ourselves in front of the entrance, and fortunately there was an available table. From the outside we did not realize it was a French restaurant, and at first I was a little disappointed, because I was hoping to try Polish cuisine, however the disappointment lasted very little. The atmosphere is very cozy. The restaurant is run mostly by women, who are friendly and professional. We immediately realize that while the cuisine is French, it is also very creative, and we try dishes that turned out to be amazing. Mussels with coconut milk and cilantro: wow. A mix of France and Thailand. This was followed by a duck breast with fried sage and a langoustine reduction. Yes that's right, a langoustine reduction: we fell in love with this dish. We also tasted the beef ribs, very good. By the time of dessert, we were so full, but chose to try the best dessert ever: beef tartare sided by a half bone roasted marrow. Unbelievable. I would return to Krakow just to go to Zazie's. I was so impressed that I asked very kind girl who served us: please open a restaurant in Milan.

Nice lunch deal (with small portions)

We did enjoy our lunch here. The taste was nice but the portions were on the small side (5 mussels for a starter and 2 chicken wings as a main is very small). Both of us had different starters (mussels & Soufle), mains (mushrooom tartare & chicken wings) and desserts (pistacho and mascarpone mousse and orange creme brulee). The price for all this is PLZ 43 per person, and drinks are reasonably priced also. Music can be on the loud side and not fitting the atmosphere. Recommended for the lunch menu for good taste if you are not hungry or a small eater, and would consider returning also for dinner myself if around next time.

Restaurant Zazie is located in the historic district of Kazimierz. The establishment is spread over two floors and specializes in French cuisine. Booked a table in advance, as the restaurant is very popular and just to walk off the street and find a table available is a rare luck. We got a table in the basement that was cozy and atmospheric enough. The service was quick and welcoming. The cuisine was generally enjoyed, but some dishes were controversial. They ordered onion soup (which I would call something like “onion soup”. Author's interpretation of a classic dish. Not impressed), snails in sauce (not bad) and duck breasts that rose to the occasion. Everything was pretty even. Prices are average. It's a good place overall.

Overall disappointing! When we were greeted we were told that we only had 1 hour. For starters we had mussels with chips. The chips were frozen and out of a packet. Inedible. The mussels were lukewarm, reheated and definitely not freshly prepared. The sauce was delicious. For mains I had duck breast which was rather tough. Ox cheeks had a strange texture, had unfortunately been reheated many times and were very dry instead of juicy as they should be. The wines by the glass were unfortunately only average. The sommelier does a good job. Overall for this price range and category it is below average. I can recommend it, even if we got a dessert on the house because of the poor food - thank you very much for that!

It's not that big of a deal

It didn't seem like that much to me. The cheeks were average and one of the cakes was frozen. In addition, we had to ask several times for ceeveza or water to be brought to us. Finally: when you book they warn you that the tip is not included (a very ugly thing), but on the bill they charge you 10% service fee.

What a delightful French restaurant in the heart of the Jewish District

My husband and I had a lovely meal here. We shared the goats cheese starter, it was a generous size, this was lovely. Our mains were the cream mussels for my husband and the fish dish for me (trout I think). Both dishes were well presented and tasted delicious. No dessert, too full. We had the house white wine, it was good value and nice so a few glasses were consumed. The staff were friendly and found us a table, which was lucky as we just happened to be walking by and it was busy, even at 8.30pm. I suggest you book, especially if it’s the weekend.

An adequate meal

We went to this restaurant after seeing it is in the 2024 Michelin guide. I have given it a 4 star but did debate a three star. The food was good but definitely not Michelin worthy in my opinion. The marrow bone was completely overpowered with the salted caper flavour which was such a pity. The beef tartar was excellent. We had to send back the percorino salad. It was inedible as it was so salty. The duck was good. Another table also sent back theirs. Overall a good experience but not Michelin worthy!

Very disappointing food. Of the 4 different dishes we ordered, all of them were swimming in black sauce or olive oil. Food cold. Vegetables and additions to dishes covered with sauce. The service was nice and helpful. I do not recommend

Good value for money for very tasty food

This was recommended by our Airbnb host. 10/10 made my trip better, very good find if you’re a foodie. Incredibly good value for money. Highly recommend booking for dinner time as space is limited and lots of people want to walk in. Will definitely visit again for the incredible mussels in white wine & creamy sauce as well as the silky smooth creme brûlée…

Because there were no available tables, for the 1st time in my life, I sat at the bar and had dinner. It was a lovely experience. The food is very creative, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The bartender acted as my server, and she was FANTASTIC - a real professional who clearly respects her work. I enjoyed my experience at Zazie so much, that I'm going back tonight for my last dinner in Krakow before I fly home.

Mussels - be careful

I was a huge fan of Zazie until my last visit. I ordered mussels for dinner. Shortly after dinner I started to feel worse, I thought it was indigestion. Unfortunately, I was nauseous all night long and felt really sick. I contacted the restaurant the next day, but they showed no interest in my complaint.

This was the restaurant we were looking forward to the most during our time in Kraków. They placed us alone in the basement and played techno music which really ruined the ambiance of the place. We ordered three starters and three mains to share. The starters were fine, nothing special - the mains however... the goose was nice. The duck was barely pink, but the carrot dumplings were really nice. The entrecôte was tougher than a shoe sole, the potato mash tasted industrially made and we had one bite before giving up. We told the waitress and she said the chefs were probably tired and we would get a discount. The discount was less than the price of the entrecôte, which was still on the bill. They mostly serve nature and bio wine, which we are not fans of, but that is our bad. We should have read about the restaurant more carefully. We sent the cremant back and did not finish the other bottle of wine. We came with maybe too great expectations? Sadly, very disappointed.

We make a long order for lunch and dinner, everything was prepared perfectly and according to ou requests. Squid and tongue were just perfect we also really like coq au vin. It is amazing how french potatoes gratin with duck can be so simple but a masterpiece at the same time. Cheescake and Guiness desserts were just fine. We were a bit disappointed with quiche with goat cheese. Nevertheless, it was not our first and, for sure, also not the last time in Zazie. If we can complain about something are quite high prices but it must me mentioned that portions are bigger than expected. The whole process of placing an order and delivery was extremely kind. Thanks for today's food experience.

Ridiculously good at the price

We had dinner here on our first night in Krakow, and it was a great succes. The soufflé was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the snails were well-tempered, the duck rilette was creamy, and goat cheese & filo pastry was oustanding. We had equally good main courses with the squid and mussel ravioli being the highlight. The duck confit was perfect too. They serve very good, dry cider and make pretty good cocktails. The desserts are great too. All in all, this is very good food, and you get a lot for the price.

Such truly fabulous food, service and surroundings and so reasonable for the quality of food. We were wowed with the whole experience. Some of the best food we have ever eaten we had the salmon and cheesecake and house wine. If we could go again we would but sadly they are not open again before we travel home. Thank you
