They try and lure in the tourists with traditional food, but service, quality etc was bad and we left feeling ripped off for the price

I think this was a desperate to get out of the cold, first night no no! The place kind of reminded me of the witches house in Hansel and Gretel... all cosy with nice looking food but crappy when you're in there. Being vegetarian, I had the fried cheese and I had fries with it. I could have got it... More

It looks nice and the lady that takes you in is pleasant but then the stress starts. There were so many staff all of whom were pleasant but everything we had to ask for twice. So chaotic. My husband had the pork knuckle which he really liked and had wanted since we arrived in Prague. My pork steak was tasty... More

I don't mind spending more if the food is good but sadly to say it's the worse I had in Prague... nice ambience but food is really bad... do not recommend...

Met up with friends and family - and this meal was the centrepiece of our weekend in Prague. Bright, breezy service and a real sense of fun - big thanks to Henri by the way. Nice, intimate, cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the excellent food. It's by no means an all-round restaurant (go elsewhere for hand torn leaves and triple cooked... More

The breaded goulash was strange, hard stomach required to digest it. Cofee was bad, prices too high. Won't try it again.

We were in the old town square and took a side street to wander. We came across this local restaurant and stopped for a bit of lunch. The food was really excellent and the service was too. Highly recommend Staromacek 1.

Cozy and quaint place right out of old town square. Amazing klobasa and potato salad. Friendly and quick service.

For the first sight the place looked nice and cozy, however the further the worse. Staff doesn't speak English and seems like they want to get rid of you as soon as possible. I ordered tea and the cup was leaking; we waited for the main two dishes incredibly long and (!!!), personally, they brought me not what I'd ordered.... More

My partner and I visited the restaurant during our 4 night trip to Prague. Firstly the prices were very high compared to the other restaurants, however it looked nice and cosy inside so we decided to enter. This was the worst experience of the trip. Both of us are vegetarian, however they brought us meat pate which we didn't eat... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
