It was the best restaurant we have visited so far in Prague. At first I was a little bit sceptical since it's a chain of restaurants, but fortunatelly I was wrong. We ordered traditional Czech dishes and they were so good we came there for the 2nd time, and when on 3rd day we chose different place, we regretted we... More

Lovely traditional restaurant in a central location. We did not make reservations and could not get seats outside. Not as nice inside but food great and beer excellent. Had the traditional Czech meat platter. Amazing

We were directed here by our departing tour director as we wanted close and local. It is close to a very busy commercial distrct so we were very surprised by the reasonable prices and the atmosphere. My husband had the chicken soup and was very pleased. Both of us had sausages that were quite good, the pretzel hot and not... More

Food here is great. The chicken wings are to die for. Also the sausage speciality is amazing. Way too much food for any one person but so tasty. Staff are great too. Beer is beautiful. The mixed beer is top drawer! Love this place.

Located close to the 'clock' it's central location makes it easy to get to (and it's near the metro). The food is traditional and with a large menu there's plenty to choose from (the pork knuckle would feed an army). For the size of the group they were quick, good food, good beer, good price. Try it!

Wow where do I even begin with this overpriced restaurant with passable food. First we sat here for over an hour watching as everyone around us got their meals even though they were seated after us. When we mentioned that we had waited an hour for our food the waiter said they would look into it. More time passes and... More

Beer is good but food not so much. Ordered goulash and Moravian sparrow (pork). Lots of sauces. Dumplings and potato pancakes bread and potatoes. Didn't feel like a healthy meal.

By the standards of the center of Prague, this place is cheap and not crowded, both of which are rare and most welcome qualities. The overall quality of food and the value-for-money is definitely not as good as elsewhere in the Czech Republic, though. My soup was essentially taste-less water with a handful of carrots cubes floating around. The turkey... More

Tucked away off the street in a central courtyard with a nice open air seating area (under umbrellas), this chain restaurant offers a variety of traditional central European food and beer. Lots of different options on the varied menu. I was pleased with my pork dinner with a variety of dumplings and cabbage. Pilsner Urquell on tap.

The palace previously referred to by the name of its owners as Piccolomini or Sylva-Taroucca Palace is now more widely known as Savarin Palace, bearing the name of the famous French connoisseur of food and drink. Being considered to be one of the most famed gastronomes and gourmets, Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826) is the author of the following quote: "The discovery of a new dish does more for the happiness of the human race than the discovery of a new star."

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
