Set in a side street in the New Town, we came across U Karla by chance. The inside is clean and tidy but the atmosphere didn't appear welcoming. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food, but what we saw on other tables looked good. The beer selection was limited to a pilsner, so disappointed with that. There... More

We visited this place twice during our stay in Prague. Traditional Czech cuisine with an entire gluten free menu. Large portions, gluten free beer and reasonable prices. Relaxed atmosphere and staff were helpful.

Do not be deceived by its great location, the cooks in this place can't cook decent food. We ordered Fish & Chips and one side of both fish pieces were burnt black! The staff didn't even bother to flip the fish over to hide the burnt sides. Items are overpriced. Food is not tasty. It has stale pretzels hanging on... More

The waiters didnt greet us, we waited 15 minutes. Noone came to take the order so we left. For this bad Service in Prague, the waiters "suggest" a 10% Service charge. Ridiculous

Pretzels and bread basket put on the table without asking and charged to the bill even though we didnt use it. Food ordered took really long to come. The food was tasty though and very well made. When we asked for the bill they specifically mentioned that no service charge was included. I am sure people read the bill and... More

Went to Svejk for lunch based on the gluten free reviews (gluten free menu dining is tough to find in Prague - Central Europe in general.) it's a bar and restaurant combined and very reasonably priced. Menu items are huge is size, quantity, portion. We stated with a appetizer plate of meat and cheeses, which can with GF bread, and... More

Me and my husband stopped here for a spot of lunch on our last day and just had a light bite - 1 panini for my husband, a salad for me and 2 soft drinks, this came to approx £30 which seems a bit steep for food that can only be described as 'ok'. When the bill came my husband... More

If you have any food intolerances - don't go. The staff were rude & not accommodating whatsoever. When asked if I could have just "chips" (instead of "fish & chips") as I knew it was the only thing I'd be able to have, the reply was just "no".

I can't fault the food, it was very good however we were waiting nearly 45 minutes for our meal and the staff were not a bit friendly and appeared more interested in serving the locals.

Thank Joseph W

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
