About
Our restaurant is part of the historic State Printing Works. In an attempt to honor the spirit of this vibrant history of this significant era, we named our new restaurant TISKARNA. The first banknotes were printed here during the First Republic in 1928; therefore we decided to find inspiration in original recipes from the contemporary cookbooks of that era to compose our menu.

Traditional Czech cuisine served in a modern setting. The food was perfectly cooked and the service was friendly and professional. Absolutely faultless!

- Friendly, low-key, non-pushy, excellent service. - Clean, breezy, accommodating interior. - Outstanding, not good, not great Outstanding native/regional food. - Not too over-priced for the area and also elegance of cuisine, thus in effect not over-priced, technically speaking. Affordable, irrespective. - Parking out front...appx 3 euros an hour on a meter. Definitely cheaper than garages in Prague. Worth it!More

I would say this is one of my favourite restaurant in the city center close to Wenceslas Square. Interior is modern with open kitchen but it also refer to old times when this building was used by banknote printing company. I prefer typical Czech cuisine...so I recommend duck with cabbage and dumplings, goulash or some steak with baked potatoes. It's also "beer lover's" restaurant as the quality of the beer is really superb. You have to come and taste. They use modern beer tanks storage. Prices are not so high to compare with other restaurants in the area and quality. In the evening is mostly very busy so I recommend you to book a table in advance.More

We visited here on the last day of our trip but just wish we had more time to visit again. I had the pumpkin soup and goulash and they were both exceptional especially with fresh beer. Service was also great!

After trolling through hours of reviews on TA, we chose to try Tiskarna. A five minute walk from Mustek metro stop and Wenceslas Square. On entering early evening on a Wednesday, we were surprised at how clean and modern the place was and how busy...it was too. Menus in English & Czech were helpful. The waiter also went to lengths to advise on dish size and personal recommendations. My starter of three types of sausages with onion salad was really tasty. I personally didn't use much of the wholegrain mustard that came with as the sausages were so tasty on their own. The theme continued with my main of Belly of park with spinach and potato. Really tasty and a decent portion size. My wife and son went for the classic duck with red cabbage and dumplings. Be warned though that they don't do child size portions for their dishes, so bear this in mind when ordering. Now my wife is Czech and we eat regularly through the Czech republic on our visits to family and i will now explain why we only gave it 4 out of 5. The red cabbage normally balanced with vinegar was so overly sweet, that it bordered on being a dessert. So sweet in fact that we passed on dessert. One wine and two beers and the aforementioned food came to about £40. Not a bargain by Czech standards, but the food and the whole experience makes it worthwhile paying a little bit more. Avoid the tourist traps around the Old town and give this one a go.More

Thank you for your review and feedback. We apologize for the red cabbage, it's always good to tell the waiter, then we can solve the problem. Thank you very much for the recommendation ..

Visited here in December 2019 with my partner and 2 friends (forgot to review until now!) and went here twice in the holiday as it was so amazing. The price was reasonable, the food was amazing and the place looked fantastic. If I ever visit...prague again I definitely would come back to this place.More
