Slightly confusing meny, bad beer, ok food, low prices and mediocre service. I would find somewhere else.

We went here by chance and were pleasantly surprised! The courteous staff (some say in Russian), the situation is quiet, fast service. I ordered the duck - it is delicious. Then brew their beer - it was light and semi-dark.

We were turned away from Novomestsky on a Saturday night, so back tracked to this place that had a sign "Pivovar Branik" outside. We were seated immediately and the waiter made a few recommendations. We had the duck (205), goulash (175) and two. 5 l dark beers (75 each ). The food was good and the service friendly and efficient.... More

A lovely young girl at our hotel recommended this to us for an authentic Czech meal. It was pretty early for dinner and the place was fairly empty. Clean inside with lots of wood. The waiter was stoic at best, but he did help us choose some food as there were no English menus. The prices were very cheap! I... More

A real Czech beer bar....loud, festive, cheap, and fun.been going there for years and if you like food that compliments beer, this is the place. Super gulas, try the spicy one, 1/2liter of beer, and your set

We visited this place to have lunch. My friends can't speak Czech and I asked if they have the menu in English. I got the answer that "we are in Czech Republic and we have menu only in Czech". The server was really rude, the rudest one I have ever had. Then I asked about the food and he was... More

The food isn't anything special, but it's not bad at all! I think it's really decent Czech (not only Czech) food. It's located close to the main square (Václavské náměstí). The cheapest lunch I've seen on the menu was 59CZK (around 3 US dollars). Beer is good, malinovka and Kofola as well. I think it's quite popular among the Czech... More

Went here with my girlfriend for a meal after a long day checking out the sights. Menu is all in Czech which I actually took as a good sign as it means tourists will be put off! We sat down and just asked the waiter for some traditional Czech food and he recommended some pork and duck dishes which we... More

It was recommended by Lonely Plant. So tried. Menu is in Czech, that means it is still unspoilt by tourists. Decor is OK. We tried to decipher the menu by using travel book, failed miserably. The waiter was quite helpful, and suggested roast pork which was quite good. Worth giving it a try.

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
