We were in the area for new year getaway and as it was New Years eve we were very doubtful of getting a place that could accomodate 6 people for dinner. We stopped in Carndonagh to see what was there and came across the Butterbean,...Lovely warm and inviting from outside so we went in. We were met by a friendly waitress who seated us straight away. Restaurant was not that busy surprisingly . Menu was fantastic - something for everyone and with pescitarians, meat eaters and vegetarians in group thats not always easy to do! Food order was taken quickly and delivered even faster. Food was delicious - hot and tasty. Service was excellent. Recommend the butterbean burger and the veggie enchiladas - really good! We were surprised with the bill - it was very reasonable for what we got. We expected it to be alot more. If you are in the Inishowen area I highly recommend the Butterbean as a place to stop - atmosphere is great and food ever better!More

We decided to stop for lunch in Carndonagh whilst doing the Inishowen 100. We just happened to park across from the Butterbean and both agreed it looked like a nice place to eat. Great friendly welcome received as we walked in the door, took our...names for customer tracing and shown to our seats. They had a good varied menu for that time of the day from salads, sambos to hot food. I settled for the open prawn salad and the wife had the roast of the day. Both dishes were out in good time and nice portions too. Oh I also had a side of garlic potatoes whites were smothered in Garlic butter, if you love garlic you’ll love these. Service was impeccable. If we are up that direction again we’ll be sure to stol by for food.More

Silvana & Steve Stayed here for two nights. Scott was an excellent host, very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are spotless and breakfast was first class. All the staff are friendly, polite and nothing was to much bother. Very central location for visiting places of interest....Second time we have stayed there and will definitely be back.More

When we stopped by, they were offering outdoor dining only. The staff were very welcoming, super friendly. The food was nice, service was good, and the food arrived exceptionally quickly. The burgers were the winner, nice and big, and very tasty .

Great options for those eating outside. Food was ok. Service ok. The tables were very sticky. We changed tables once and had the same problem. To pick things up from the table was a funny thing. Not sure if it's due to too much alcohol...or gel when cleaning or something that happened to the varnish on the table. Would go back in the future.More

It was a blustery and showery day and driving through Carndonagh we decided to stop for lunch. A lovely welcome to the establishment and an explanation that they don't currently have indoor dining but a covered outside area is available. So happy we stayed! Two...very tasty club sandwiches and a delicious chicken, brie and cranberry wrap with Teas and Coffees were just the thing we needed. Excellent service, tasty food - highly recommend if you are touring InishowenMore

Stayed for 2 nights in July and had a great time. The rooms were great, spotless and very comfortable. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. Enjoyed a gorgeous breakfast outside, cooked to perfection, including poached eggs, which I always take on the side as...they often arrive on soggy toast (including the top hotels in Dublin!) But not here! All the staff were so amazing and friendly. We watched the Euro 2020 final in the bar, and my son asked if there was any food left (service had stopped) No problem at all 2 big bowls of chips on the house. Highly recommend it for a base for a great location. The beaches are amazing, the Famine Village and Wild Ireland. Cant wait to return!More

We stayed in the butterbean for 3 nights. I would class myself as Covid anxious and the team were really helpful. I'd my breakfast outside in the mornings and the rooms have their own side door so we never met anyone coming in or out....The room was really spacious and very comfy. The food was excellent as ever. We'd dinner there twice. I'm vegetarian so had a chickpea korma (lovely and creamy) and enchilada (cheesy goodness). Also had some of the mocktails which were delish. Breakfast was also top class. I'd omelettes, poached eggs and for any potential guests - order the fried potato cubes at breakfast, lunch, dinner, whenever - they're gorgeous!More

We stayed near Carndonangh and booked a meal in The Butterbean on one of the nights. The booking was done through the website and I got a confirmation email within a couple of hours. They have created a very nice seating area out the back,...away from the traffic and there are nice views across the countryside. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was typical pub-grub and the portions were very generous. I would rate the food as 'very good' - we were starving walking in and stuffed walking out. Would recommend.More
